|  denatured alcohol I was wondering if denatured alcohol will work the same as isopropyl alcohol to clean out my pipes. Also if it will work my bubbler has a rubber gasket on it will this be ok if touched by the denatured alcohol? |

| not sure about that. might as well just stick with isopropyl since its so cheap and works really well

| ya i just dont have any laying around the house and found some denatured so i was wondering if it would work. |

| I dont know so I did some wikipedia based research: 'Denatured alcohol is often also used for its solvent properties, for example to remove ink stains from upholstery or clothes. Denatured alcohol is also one of the most common solvents (vehicles) found in commercially available shellac, and shellac based products.' 'Isopropyl alcohol is cheaply available. Like acetone, it dissolves a wide range of nonpolar compounds. It is also relatively nontoxic and dries quickly. Thus it is used widely as a solvent' They are both used as solvents but Im not sure,Isopropyl is so cheap anyway so just get some of that.

| Yes. Denatured is every bit as good if not better marginally. And it's also just as easy to find...

| Denatured alcohol is just ethanol (spirits) to which something has been added to make it undrinkable. It works fine for cleaning pipes. As with any form of cleaning alcohol, be sure to rinse thoroughly so you won't be inhaling the vapors or, worse, blowing up your pipe when you light it.
