| Me and my best friend have a really weird relationship. Ever since I met him in college, we have shared a really intimate, really bizarre bond. I would even go so far as to consider it telepathic in nature. We finish each other's sentences, speak in unison, and can have an entire conversation across the room without opening our mouths. Sometimes I will get a strange feeling and know that he is just about to call - he has told me that that a similar thing happens to him. There have been times when one of us has known when the other is in trouble, just from a bad feeling that they got. We're also both skilled at reading other people too, and subsequently guiding their actions through subliminal empathic suggestion. We can't really read their thoughts, more like their intentions - we can tell if someone is lying or intuitively understand the thought process behind their perspective and preempt their actions. We have never met anybody else who can do what we do, so needless to say, when we met each other, we were both a little relieved to find out we weren't outside of our minds. We really don't even know how to define it, except with a few basic concepts: 1) It makes manipulation of social situations very easy, 2) We attract people with complex emotional problems and usually end up involved, and 3) We have some kind of unexplainable psychic bond similar to the one I have heard described between twins, even though we were born across the country from each other in wildly different social environments. We have never told anyone about it in the last four years we've known each other, because people already think we're bizarre. The only thing that made me think of it was the fact that he came up to my place for the weekend (his birthday was Valentine's Day) and while we were sitting around smoking the bong I got him as a gift, he brought it up. We rarely discuss it as a general rule, so I guess I'm been doing some hard thinking about it since our talk. I am very skeptical of paranormal phenomena, so needless to say, I would not believe it if it wasn't a normal part of my life now. Anyway, that's my story. I don't care if anyone believes me - I just had to get that off my chest.
