| i've talked to people who've said mj is extremely addictive, & i've met people that think mj is only addictive to a certain extent (you want it, but you don't crave it), & i've met people that think mj isn't addictive at all. your thoughts? there's probably been tons of posts about this, i'm sorry. i don't really know about the addictive thing, i mean, yeah there's times where i crave pot. i'll wake up & i have this huge urge to just take a fat hit out of the bong. but i don't NEED it. |

| I only became addicted to it, because I kept smoking for years - within the first two years of smoking, I could stop smoking for months without a problem.. then when I started up again, I started liking it more and more - now I smoke everyday [at night times only] and if I go a day or two without it, I start getting real irritated and shit. I'm not physically addicted to it, I just want to get high each night and unwind in my room - it also helps a lot to get me to sleep.

| Marijuaan addiction is psychological, and you can be psychologically addicted to anything you enjoy, be it sex, weed, cheeseburgers, or standing on your head. I'm not saying psychological addicitopns are not "real" issues per se, but yes, the addcition is mainly in your head, and not a chemical result of using marijuana

| Personally it is a need for pain thing with me, but if I didn't have the pain I could go without it! I have two friends that have to have it from the time they wake-up to the time they go to sleep and they both have been like that all their lives! I don't know if I would call it an addiction, as long as I have known them, they both say they need it. I guess it is the difference between a need, a want, or a have-to-have? The majority of people call them addicts and I guess the same people wound call me an addict also, if I where one that smoked cannabis. That's strange, just because people know they smoke cannabis, because they smell it on them, they are called addicts? So what am I? I need it, I have-to-have it, and I want it, so am I an addict, even though its for a medical reason? If I am an addict then what about all these people popping all these pills these doctors prescribe? I think its a judgement call for the person!

| Well, since marijuana contains no chemicals that are addictive in it AT ALL, then I'd say that marijuana is not addictive at all. There's no possible way to get physically dependent on it, and while people probably do have a phycological addiction, none of the marijuana addictions are serious. |

| I've had some conversations with people this past week since coming back home for spring break, and this is certainly always part of what we talk about. As for me, I love smoking weed and do it whenever I can and don't have any work going on, but I would never go so far as to say I'm addicted to it. Some days I crave it, sure, but I could just as easily go a month without smoking. The people that say they can get addicted to it or say that they have seen people addicted to it are probably talking about people with addictive personalities - the type of people that get clingy to a person or something like that. Those people could potentially get addicted to anything, be it pot, chocolate, or even a video game. |

| It's like any drug, people get used to being in a high state because it often feels easier to cope with everyday situations. I know people who have been somewhat "addicted" to other drugs which are not physically addictive such as LSD and MDMA. The problem lies within the people, when its possible, its always easy to get stoned and do nothing, people need to motivate themselves. |
