Hey everyone.

You know, it bugs me that I cannot bring myself to come out on facebook as a supporter and advocate of marijuana. I'd love to be able to update my facebook status, or post links to pro-marijuana articles and news for others to look at. I'd love to join Pro-MJ groups.

Now my reasoning for now coming out is, that I worry about the potentially negative impact it could have if other people knew about my stance on it. I also advertise my business through facebook and wouldn't want that negatively effected.

Of course the other part of my mind says "Go for it. It's what you believe in, MJ isn't harmful or evil" etc etc..

What do you guys/girls think? Are you open on facebook about your Marijuana feelings?

but i say fuck that! if you really feel the way you do then why hide it? at the end of the day it all comes down to how comfortable you feel about your choices, i say fuck it, rock it, roll it!!

Just weigh up the pros and cons - is announcing your status on marijuana actually going to be beneficial to you? Normally I'd be all for opening up about this sort of thing, but if, as you say advertise your business on facebook, it probably isn't worth being too upfront about your habit in case you loose customers over it

There was a fairly recent story in the news about this type of scenario involving an xbox live gamers' profile - I won't go into details, but the vague jist was that someone was advertising the fact that they were a lesbian on their profile page, which is against the xbox live terms of service. Basically, because they felt it necessary to promote a lifestyle of theirs, they were banned from the network. I know that really only very loosely relates to your scenario, but ultimately it conveys the same message. A lot of people can be really close minded about MJ, even to the extent where they will completely avoid businesses that advocate it's use, i'm just not sure that it would be worth risking what could be a large portion of your income over something that you can easily be open about in other ways - wearing a pro MJ t-shirt, posting right here, even just signing up to the various legalization groups would do the trick.

It's your choice though mate - just do what feels right

Well Bro if u advertise your business there and dont want to lose any coustomers i would say that posting a bunch of pro MJ links could be protentially harmful but at the same time its what you believe in and you should stand up for that I think that you should do it but at the same time i wouldnt be the one losing potential business thats a tuff one bro

Your right to free speech includes your ideas on Marijuana. As long as you don't state that you actively use it or sell it or w/e, you're fine. Anyone who suggests you would be fired or if you receive negative or disciplinary action as a result of it they are violating your constitutional rights and can be sued in a court of law. Stick it to the man.

I try very hard to avoid having any of my pesonal opinions associated with my business. I wouldn't mind "coming out" to my family and friends on facebook (most of them know my feelings already and if they didn't I would be happy to enlighten them), but not mixed with my advertising.

You might want to think about having a seperate facebook account for just friends and family so that you can feel more free to discuss issues that concern you.

One of my best friends told me how much he hates people that smoke so I was scared to do any of that stuff too, but I stopped being scared of what they would think of me. You should do the same

This is the best advice I've seen on this thread so far. I was thinking the exact same thing. Just leave alone the account you have right now for your business and don't post anything that could potentially harm them. The reality is that many people are very close minded about marijuana, they see it as "the devils lettuce" and no matter what you tell them and show them the facts, they will not change their mind. When business come around, the business that put food on the table, the ones that pay the bills and put a roof on top of your head, I think that they are very important and you DO NOT want to do anything to harm them.

Me? I could careless about what the world thinks about me. This is who I am and I shouldn't pretend to be someone that I am not.
