| I know I am making a generalization here and it definitely does not apply to everyone in America, but I lived in several countries and I have never ever seen this kind of behavior from people. I am talking about responsibility for doing what one said and/or promised. I will give you examples, but its not just a random occasional occurrence - it happens all the time. Pretty much if someone promised to give you a ride to a different state (planned ahead, 7 hour ride) but for some really selfish (like...being hungry, "not feeling like it") reason had to leave early or late - they would not even call. They just left. This just happened to a friend of mine (girl) and it used to keep happening to me all the time until I isolated myself from Americans. Now she is deep sh*t. In my country (in Europe) people beat each other up for being such traitors and back-stabbers. To me it is absolutely unheard of. Things do come up but a 10 second text message "Can't do, sorry!" would suffice. "I", personal needs, selfishness, greed - its all what makes up an average American...its so sad. I used to not communicate with anyone but American people and I was so confused about the behavior. I used to think there was something wrong with me. Once I started communicating with international students, I realized they had the same exact opinion... Maybe its because here in the South people are so fake... Do people like that go far in America? I mean, you can't have a true friendship or relationship or even be a good worker if you simply put yourself and your needs above all the responsibilities you have. How am I supposed to deal with this? You meet new people and they seem nice and interested and they want to do things together (they are the ones offering, damn it!!!!!!!!!!!) and then just back-stab you for a completely selfish reason! I've been friend with exchange students from Austria, Germany, France, Belgium, China, Sweden, and not none of those students has ever done that kind of back-stabbing to me. NOT ONCE.
