| i went to my alcohol class a week ago, & they were talking about marijuana users. this chick was like "& she is 42 years old & still smokes pot!" then everyone gasps like OMG THAT'S SO WEIRD! a lot of people here think that there's a time when you just stop smoking pot because you're getting older. does that make sense? i personally think that there's a time when someone should stop partying, but i don't consider smoking pot partying. opinions?

| I agree in some ways that people do stop smoking at a certain age. I know for a fact that when I grow up and have kids that I'm definitely not going to be smoking pot. On the other hand, if I don't have kids and don't get married (which I doubt), that's a different story. I recently had to stop because I got into trouble with my parents and I just kind of wanted to take a break with it... |

| Everyone is different, some people will be able to go on smoking for the rest of their lives without it having any negative effects on them or their family, there are some people like this on the forum. Some people may not have any time to smoke when they are older or won't be able to smoke cause of their job or just won't be able to handle the responsibilities of having a family if they continue smoking. It's a decision all stoners will eventually have to put some serious honest thought into.

| I see no problem with people smoking well into old age, many of the things pot helps with get worse as you age. I use MJ mostly to relieve back pain, so unless my pain magically disappears when I get old, I will continue to smoke (actually, vape ).MJ is one of the best medicine's we have, why should we limit its use to young people?

| It bothers me when people say you have to quit at a certain age. It seems as if many outsiders view marijuana as something you smoke when you're a kid, when they know that's not true. They'll say anything to throw marijuanas name in the mud. I'm gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life- Kottonmouth K. ![]()

| As others have said, it really just depends on one's circumstances. Marihuana has many virtues; as we grow and change sometimes pot fits in and sometimes it doesn't. No big deal. I started smoking when I was fifteen (and for those naysayers who maintain that's too young I'll tell you now that in retrospect I'm glad I did). For me (and of course I understand that it's not necessarily the same for everyone) it opened my eyes to a whole other part of my consciousnesses, one that has proven invaluable throughout my life. I have no doubt whatsoever that I'm a much better person for the influence that cannabis has had in my life. Now in my 60's I smoke (vape mostly) for the medical benefits primarily, but no doubt I would anyway given that the psychological benefits are every bit as valuable. Throughout my life there have been periods when I didn't partake, sometimes weeks, months, even years. It just happened naturally: I really didn't think about it; it just happened to work that way. And it was all good. That's the way life is. If we simply allow it, what we need most will come. I see cannabis, in my case, as true love. | It depends on a lot of things. I personally would like to continue smoking for the rest of my life, even if just occasionally, but I won't if it puts the more important things in my life at risk. Family, Job etc..

| When I first started smoking I never imagined smoking past my mid twenties. Now my perspective has changed because I smoke pot for a different and better reason now. If you can smoke into old age why not? I'm undecided as to whether I will continue once I start a family, but I don't see why I wouldn't.

| Statistically, it's true. The great majority of pot smokers quit in their late twenties or early thirties. It's easy to laugh off legal consequences when you have nothing to lose. When you have a career, a family, and a mortgage, it's not that easy anymore.
