| This is just to share a good time with you, my online 420 friends. Nothing important or mind-blowing, I'm just so damn happy I have to share my story. It was my GF's birthday on Tuesday, and for a couple months, all she could talk about was how much she wanted to go to the House of Mouse with me to celebrate. I wanted nothing more than to be able to take her, but money was an issue. A few days ago, one of her good friends (Who I will call "Angel" because that is what she was...) called me to discuss her Bday plans, and I told her that as much as I wanted to, I couldn't quite come up with enough funds to pull it off. Angel said that we could use her car (instead of my gas-hog of a lifted JeeP) and as HER gift to my GF, she would pay for a room for us to stay for a couple nights. That was the help I needed! SO, I decided to drive her down Monday (About 7 hours drive time), stay Monday night, go to the park Tuesday open to close, spend Tuesday night in the hotel and drive home Wednesday. Her ticket was free for her Bday, and I could only afford one day, one park only. (That meant not going into California Adventure) But still, better than nothing. She LOVES D'land so I knew it would make it a great Bday for her. So we get to the park, and the guy at the ticket booth was the first surprise, that started a chain of really good luck for us. This guy was so cool. He upgraded her ticket for only 10 bucks, and gave me the same deal. So all of a sudden we both have 2 DAY PARK HOPPER tickets for only a little more than the price of 1 single day, single park ticket. From this point on, the next couple days went beyond perfect! I can't even begin to tell you all of the great things that happened, but here is an overview of some of it: First off, we went to the new Nemo ride. (The old submarine ride, touched up with Finding Nemo details. We waited only about 35 minutes to get on. This would be the longest we had to wait for anything over the two days. We never waited more than 15 minutes for any ride, and most of them we almost walked right on. We got a fast-pass for the Indiana Jones ride, but the rest of them we didn't need to. She had a "Birthday Button", and so every employee that saw her wished her a Happy Birthday. (We lost track after about 40) I managed to get dinner reservations at the Blue Bayou and got her a "Birthday Bucket" while we were there. It's silly, but she loved it. Day one we rode: Nemo, SpaceMountain, Matterhorn, Tea-Cups, Indiana Jones, Jungle Boats, Mark Twain River Boat, Star Tours, Pirates, HauntedMansion, watched the parade, and had a great dinner. We shopped, and snacked, and ended the day with the new fireworks show. The second day we hit California Adventure, and back over to D'land for more. Every bit of it was great. Even our cheap little hotel was awesome. My point in sharing all this with you is this: Both my GF and I have had a really hard time over the last year and a half. We have had the worst luck with work, money, cars, family, you name it. We don't get to see each other much, and when we do, it always seems to be rushed. D'land has always been her sanctuary, and she was really missing it. Over these two days, we left the world behind. Completely. We had fun on a level that I had forgotten was even possible. It is hard for me to even explain just how good it was. It was as if nothing could go wrong, and everything brought us joy. At one point I lost my camera with all of the pictures from day one (Her birthday) on it. It was turned in at the lost and found, unharmed, somehow getting all the way across the park before we did. Upon returning home, everything seemed ... BETTER. That whole "Weight off your shoulders" feeling. I showed our pics to my family, and the first thing my Mom said was "Oh my God Tim, you're smiling! I haven't seen you smile in a couple years!". My buddy came by and as soon as he saw me, he says "Man! It looks like YOU had a good trip!". And that's when it hit me... I was happy. Honestly, and truly happy. It really has been a couple years since I truly smiled, and here I sit, typing what will probably boar the hell out of most, if not all of you, and I'm smiling even now. It feels almost foreign to me to be happy like this, but you won't hear me complaining about it! I wish everyone could feel the way I feel right now! (And I haven't even packed a bowl tonight!) (Yet...) To top it all off, we may have saved a life or two! On the way home, and only a few miles from her house, a car passed us weaving back and forth across three lanes. He was bouncing off curbs, running lights, and stopping in the middle of the road for no reason. I had a strong feeling he was going to kill someone, and probably would have had it not been 3am and the roads empty. I called the police, and followed him while guiding them to where we were. When they showed up, he would not pull over for them until he got himself stuck in a parking lot. The police dragged him out (at gunpoint!) as we watched. He couldn't even stand up! The cops got my info and sent us on our way. Normally I am not someone who likes dealing with the police, but I honestly felt this guy was going to hurt or kill some innocent person, and I couldn't just turn a blind eye. So there is my saga... I hope I didn't boar you TOO much. This whole "Happy" thing is just so strange to me, and I thought sharing it might bring a good feeling to one or two of YOU. I would love to hear any stories that you might have like this. Joy begets joy, so share YOUR joy if you feel so inclined. Thank you for reading, and I wish every one of you the happiness I'm feeling now. ![]()
