| Hi there... I'm 20 years old and I've been smoking pretty consistently for about 4 or 5 years now, not too much but average about 1-3 times a week. So A few months ago all was normal, but I started feeling really depressed and unstable when I was sober and also when I was high, in circles of feeling normal and then down. I wasn't too worried because after about a week or two I was feeling fine all the time. Anyways, so I ended up not smoking for about a month and a half, but just the other day I was back in my hometown so I picked up some really good stuff, paying twice as much as usual. I smoked a few times with friends and it was good time, but just the other day I smoked a personal and for some reason the high had effects lasting like 4 hours?? It was really strange because I've never been been high that long, even with the same weed as before. Anyways, during that high I must have had like a traumatic experience or something, and I was super paranoid and felt like shit. I was pretty worried at the time, but I figured that I was just really baked. So the day after, I felt like absolute shit, and this was no ordinary burning out, but my brain actually felt like it had incurred damage or something... I really don't know. Even the day after I still felt like my mind had lost a little. Today, the third day after, I still feel like my mind is elsewhere and can't function at 100%, that being said though, I have improved over the three days. I just feel like I can't return to feeling in a normal state... it's very scary... I may just be being paranoid, but I've been smoking weed for a long time and NEVER have I had anything like these effects. Maybe I could have some sort of hypersensitivity that's causing this?... maybe my mind couldn't handle the string weed after a long break, and has affected it? Has this ever happened to anyone, or has anyone heard of this? I feel like it's minor brain damage or something, but like I said I may just be over-reacting, but three days after and still feeling brain fried from weed is pretty scary. I had no idea where to ask, so I signed up for this site hoping to find answers. Thanks alot for reading, and I would love any advice/help. |

| Just try to act normal and not think about it at all. This kind of stuff usually happens when people get all worried and shit, and they cant stop thinking about how something may have caused damage, been different, etc. Its really all just in your head. You truly believe that theres something really wrong with you, which is why your mind is acting different, when in reality your perfectly fine.

| The fact that you had taken a break would have increased your sensitivity and it is possible that the strain you smoked had a higher concentration of THC then you are used to. When you smoked on your own you imbibed a bit more then normal and that would account for the "weed hangover" you felt. Another possibility is if you had taken any kind of cold medication before smoking as sometimes medications with pseudophedrine can cause the type f reaction you mentioned. So can having had anything with high amounts of caffeine such as strong coffee or energy drinks. Lastly symptoms from an underlying cold or infection can feel exacerbated by the hypersensitivity that comes from smoking strong weed. The good news is this will pass. To help be sure to be eating a sensible diet -- don't be living on fast food and junk food. Eat correctly as your body needs simple and nourishing foods when it is feeling unwell. If you are not a cook I highly reccomend things like soup, milk, peanut butter, fresh fruit and whole grain bread. And be sure to drink a lot of water. Stay away from caffeinated drinks or drinks high in sugar like pop and sugary fruit drinks. A few days should see you feeling better. |

| This has happened to me before. But I realized it was because I wasn't doing anything fun or to my liking during my 'down' time. I'm a huge art guy so I went out and bought some more canvas and started painting a lot more. I also just fixed up an old guitar and have been playin it a lot. I've picked up the skates and hit the ice to play some hockey as well. And now I'm happy all the time. Smoke about 1-5 times a week. It varys for me. I try not to more than two or so times a day or a few days in a row. Some weeks I don't smoke at all some weeks quite a bit. But what I'd say is just find some hobbies maybe you're not doing enough fun stuff to keep yourself occupied. Hope I help. |

This is one way to fix it, But dude I know exactly what your going through. okay, About a month ago I was in this Werid ass Mind set where My thoughts would always be Paranoid, and Always Full of Aniexty and "depersonalzation"(sp) I had those "ups and downs" as you said, I would feel ok one week, but ONCE i thought like a anxious thought, I Would be Depressed and paralized at doing anything. It Can be the Strain of Weed you smoked, But how can that affect you when your not high right? What I did to fix it was A couple of things. I STOPED staying home and doing nothing; thinking about this feeling of losing my mind, and went out and got a job. (not that THAT at first helped) I began to open myself up a bit to the world which I thought did not exsit anymore, (neither did myself) and to people at my new job. I began to start and think about myself in a differenet way, as opposed to thinking I couldn't do anythign because of my "condiction" I started living, and those thoughts are going away now, THey are not completely gone, But their intensidy is NO WAY as much as it used to be. So in summeration, I can say that You need To Stop focusing on those thoughts! If you think you can never have bad thoughts, YOU CAN! and THose are THEM!!! This will not Be fixed over night, IF you are at the same place i was at (which I dont think you are because I had been feeling that way for years and you only a couple of months). then it'll take a little bit of Convincing (BY YOURSELF) to get yourself back on YOUR own feet! For this is all in your mind, and anything in your mind is under your control, is it not? | |

| Edit: oops. I was too high and only read the top of your post. Hahahahaha. But I don't think it hurts the brain. Every now and then I get the feeling after that I'm dumb or not thinking right. But it passes fast. And I think that I'm just not acting 'normal' but then I think to myself. Fuck, what fun is being normal. But sorry I've never felt like shit after or anything so I guess with me it's a little diffrent. |

| Marijuana does not cause brain damage. It's effects are gone after a few hours. If you are experiencing long-term effects, it's either psychological or there was something other than cannabis in your cannabis.

| Like Buzzby said, marijuana doesn't cause brain damage. That said, if you feel something is wrong, talk to a doctor. Don't expect reliable medical advise from a discussion forum about pot. |

| Well poor billy gerry has disappeared into a haze of smoke so we'll probably never know how he's recovered ...but his query begs the question: Quote:
