| Let me start off by saying I haven't smoked cannabis in over 6 weeks. I had been a daily smoker for nine months before that, and before that just an occasional smoker. I haven't felt any withdrawals or anything, but of course I crave it once in a while. Reason I stopped is because first and foremost, my friends and I recently got caught, so all of our parents are on our asses. Second, it's burning a hole in my wallet. I'd love to start again, but another thing holding me back is most of my friends are moving away to college and I'm pretty much one of the few people left that smoke. Also, I hate to admit it, but I'm becoming somewhat of a loner. I'm home by myself 4/5 of the day. So anyway, today was a pretty alright day. I asked the girl I liked to go out with me tomorrow, she said sure. Got some stuff done on my car, which felt rewarding. So 7pm rolls around and I'm sitting in my room bored out of my mind. This lead to hunger and for some reason depression and anxiousness. I went downstairs to see if there's anything to eat, nothing. This made everything worse. I usually don't get too emotional over food, I don't have an eating disorder or anything so this came as a shock to me. And I couldn't control it. I don't know what I was depressed about, but I was just really depressed. Then paranoia kicks in. I start thinking about the girl and how maybe when I asked her to go out she thought that it was just a friend thing. I don't have a history of depression or anything of that sort, but lately I've been noticing even the best of my days just don't satisfy me. Every morning when I wake up I anticipate nothing, it just turns out to be another monotonous, boring day. I wasn't like this when I used to smoke. It's not a suicidal type of depression or anything. Now I know many of you are going to say, 'Well, just pick up some more!' Unfortunately it's not that easy anymore. Any help or advice is appreciated in advance. Thanks. | That sounds rough man. Maybe there is a reason though, I mean your friends are all moving away and your feeling like your spending a lot more time at home..bored. That gets old after a while and of course your going to feel depressed. Go out with that girl tomorrow, I bet you won't feel like this after.

| Do you think you might have an anxiety issue? That's what it sounds like to me, and maybe the weed was helping that a little. IDK, it's just a theory.

| You could say I have an anxiety issue. I don't know for sure though. One more thing to note, before I asked her I was extremely nervous and was having a panic attack. At one point I felt like I was going to throw up. I'm thinking it could have backfired, but I don't know. Mushroom Man, that pretty much sums it all up. I don't know what to do, it's kind of hard for someone like me to find new friends because the friends I currently have that are moving away have been my friends for so long, that I haven't gotten used to the idea of even making new friends. To top it off I'm somewhat shy. |

| Don't worry man, You seem pretty nervous, like you don't want to blow your oppurtunity. We all get that, just react in different ways. Unfortantly for you, you get the paranoia, etc etc. But it'll blow over, I'd suggest eat a good healthy meal, Fish. Any cooked fish will improve your health and your state of mind. The loner thing, I could talk to people all day long without a breathe inbetween, I have alot of energy and a positive attitude. But really, I enjoy sitting alone, sitting back in my chair listening to some tunes, with nobody to bother me. But I would love to talk all day, so really it's a relief thing. Enjoy the time you have now, because one day you'll be looking around for the time. And just focus on your life from an optimistic perspective, and at the end of the day, the worlds still intact and life is good.

| I had the same type of depression (bit worse tho) i was put on fleuoxtine and it worked wonders (but it may of been the weed since i first noticed a big change the night i smoked up for the first time in my life ^^ ) basically it just makes the serotonin receptors in your brain, make sure that your brain gets enough serotonin (kinda like ectasy but it only brings you to a normal persons happiness instead of WOOOTT I LOVE LIFE!) |

| Well if this is a new thing and you haven't noticed this sort of thing consistently in the past, then I would say its probably what you think it is. I mean it would make sense, your friends are all moving away, you are sitting at home bored out of your mind, its probably the boredom and realization that your friends are leaving. I bet you thought that if you start doing stuff, and find more friends to replace the old ones that are leaving, it will bring you to your former levels of happiness. |

| I've been very interested in depression as a condition because it can be such a struggle, especially when it seems pointless. I recently read a report that proved that the average Nigerian person was happier than the average American despite all the poverty. This was put down to the way the human mind works. Relaxing and spending time enjoying yourself can be fun but in excess it leads to depression. You said doing work on your car was rewarding? That is because, apparently, human happiness comes from having goals and targets and achieving them. Keep yourself occupied and busy, do projects, research famous people who interest you. Do anything which you have an interest in. |

| Well man first off you need to just chill out about the girl thing, There are plenty of girls in this world. Trust me. If she is too shallow to accept you as you are then unless you're just in it for the pussy, drop her. Second you should find activities that stimulate you. If nothing you do changes the way you feel then I would suggest either A) get stoned or B) talk to a doctor about your depression and possibly using medication. As someone who has taken many types of antidepressants I would have to say that marijuana does more for me than pharmeceauticals ever have. But as far as pharms go I would say in my experience SSRIs make the most difference. However, they come at the price of horrible withdrawl symptoms. GL
