Sorry.. this is a very long story. Please read the whole thing before posting, it should be a quality learning experience.

Yesterday my two friends and I were in New York City planning on getting some fine deals on quality glassware and seeing a free reggae show. We headed in while it was pouring rain around 4:00 PM and headed downtown to Canal street where there are street vendors on both sides of the street equipped with knock offs of all types and quite a bit of glass ware. In addition to that there's cops running up and down the street as well as 4 packs of cops stationed in different areas even some on horses. Does it make you really feel safer? No.
It's such a busy area and on a rainy day it seems even more sketched out.

We looked at a few people selling bowls trying to strike up some deals but they all looked the same and weren't anything we felt like spending money on.

Walking down the street you always need to look around you because people creep around trying to rob you as soon as you take your cash out. Just keep looking around at them until they get it that you're fairly street smart and that they should move away.

It's a very poor neighborhood with dealers EVERYWHERE. For the average stoner that sounds like a great idea but they're all really really really sketched out. We found a guy that had bud and first he asks "You guys narcs"? We're 3 teenagers and we're like no.. Most deals are a 1-2-3 thing but this wasn't. He started acting really sketchy and I'm like nah nevermind let's peace. He really bugged out on me after that and he's like whoah whoah whoah where you going? I'm like we just want some quality glassware so I decided I don't want any bud right now.

He ended up escorting us to some shops around there and we thought after that we'd be free to peace out. We thanked him for his help and thought he was just a nice person. WRONG.

He starts to ask if we're "from around here" which we weren't. We're just Jersey dudes that go to the city as much as possible and we were exploring a new area. I was immediately COMPLETELY sketched out and wanted to leave but my friend said we were never there before.

The beginning of the day went downhill from there. He proceeded to take us around the corner and sit my other friend and I on a few steps as my one friend went with this sketchy guy to the front of the house for some bud. We're like wow it can't possibly get worse than this.

He took my one friend into the apartment and we stood outside. Two cars pulled up with tinted windows and again SKETCHY looking people in them. My friend and I walked cautiously up the block so we couldn't get surrounded and thrown into a car.

This dealer split us up and somehow appeared outside of the building on the other side of the block telling us to stay in the spot we were.

Of course we followed my friend to make sure he was okay. Probably 20 min later, a lot of texts, and a lot of phone calls later he calls us and tells us he was waiting outside for the guy after giving him 40 dollars.

We finally found our chance to bail even though he was totally lost and we were in an area we didn't know. We told him to leave since we didn't care about the 40 dollars. We probably found him an hour after that and we were so happy to all be safe.

He got robbed his 40 dollars but we were all alive and well. Never even say a word to dealers you don't know. It's not worth it. It's like a life or death binding contract. You don't know if you're going to get shot or not

It was a terrible idea in the first place and in ANY OTHER SITUATION I would have thought back to my basic principals and never even went there.

Thankfully we're all alive.

lmao you should have seen his motives from the jump.. street smarts are usually needed when u come to the city looking for bud or you will get got.. this all happened on Canal St? Lesson one don't follow anyone into a building... if they got bud they got it right there on the spot, your friend isn't very wise.

Yeah you're totally right. It was just a totally bad decision but we couldn't back out so it sucked

What we failed to see were his motives of screwing us over royally. If anything I thought he'd try to deal us some bad weed

Yeah I feel you, shit happens.. but like you said it could have been a lot worse. New Yorkers love taking advantage of people, you just gotta know how to maneuver, but hey its a learning experience!

The problem is that I like to think I'm a New Yorker a little too much, too early in my life. I was born in the city and my family's all from New York but I still have a lot of learning to do

I'm gonna have to find a good dealer next year when I most likely move there for college. Hopefully through friends

don't mess with ghetto people, like uh you know what i mean. people make a living robbing people like this, usually for more than $40. in my experience ask those skateboarders or some video game heads.
