Hi,
Im barely 16 and I was wondering if any effects of smoking weed hurts my brain, sometimes I feel addictive, I started full on smoking around 2 months ago and I think I feel effects on my brain, I haven't gone through puberty yet(I KNOW IT FUC*ING SUCKS!) probably stage 2 or 3 out of 5 and for sure my brain hasn't devolved fully, Is there any effect of marijuana on my brain, should I stop, I am a smart kid but I feel like I am getting dumber. I am also having a lil bit harder time breathing, I try to smoke out of a light bulb vape much as I could. I was don't want health risks, I want to always stay smart.

Off topic, I just want to share I drank a 40 and it was awesome I think I like the feeling more than stoned, I was drunk for the first time

The research on this topic hasn't been that extensive so its hard to say, however I do know many people who started smoking weed around 15 or 16 years old that turned out to be great people. If you are mature enough to handle a mind altering substance responsibly, go for it. As for any kind of brain damage, I wouldn't worry about it. I would think that 40 would affect your memory and mental/physical functioning more than a heavy smoking session would, at least from personal experience.

Weed isn't physically addictive like other drugs(coke, meth, heroin, etc) they say it's psychologically addictive but with that being said it depends on the persons mentality and how the perceive the holy plant... As far as feeling dumbed down I've seen it happen to some people that have literally smoked themselves retarded but once again that also depends on the person, I've been smoking heavily for the past 10 years and never once felt stupid or below the average person. Keep in mind marijuana isn't for everyone, some people try smoking and like you said they feel negative effects in their head and those people usually like alcohol more in the end from what I've witnessed over the years... But if you really feel "effects" on your brain like you said, try stopping for a little while and see if it makes any difference.

Firstly, Puberty lasts from about the ages of 12 to 20, it's a long process, Secondly, Marijuana affects growth hormones, but I really don't know how that'll affect the brain.

And if you're really worried about hurting your brain, don't get drunk.

That was 10 years ago, I'm not sure if any of that has been disproved over the last decade but my advice to you as a teen, if you're going to smoke just be active. Don't sit on your ass all day like you see those kids on the TRUTH commercials... I've been smoking since I was 11 and I'm in great shape and also tall. So my advice if you don't want to be a scrawny needle just stay fit!

I started smoking weed at 15. My philosophy prof in my first semester of college said I was the best student in his Intro class. There were 250 people in that class

It really depends on the person.
Most people I know, started when they were 13, now at 21 they are perfectly fine.

You sound like you're in the exact same position I was in when I started toking up, I was also late on the whole puberty thing (I know it sucks, just hang in there ) and I can tell you now that MJ has, if anything made me more successful. I think it just depends how you approach it - if you make getting high your every day goal then yes, you will notice negative effects, if however you use it more as just a nice way to chill after a long day then you should be fine. Personally, after about a month of regular smoking I was more active, and doing better in classes than ever before. I also had a pretty bad drinking problem that I overcame with little to no effort almost instantly with a little help from the magical herb.

I also didn't have any trouble growing, but if you're really worried about that then definitely stay away from excessive alcohol consumption.

I guess the bottom line is that smoking now and then shouldn't be too detrimental to your health, if you're starting to feel a bit dumber or addicted though then I'd recommend just cutting back a bit and seeing if that helps. Maybe take a 7 day tolerance break and see how you feel, if suddenly everything is fine again then maybe now isn't the best time to start toking up.
