| this morning i woke up to my mom yelling and shit cuz she found my roaches on the counter that me and my buddy finished smoking last night. we really have no fuckin clue how they got there, like we had a case and shit that they mustve fell out of? anyway we need help: what can we do to lessen the consequences? our parents are really strict about it cuz of the whole 'illegal' factor. should we show them a website with myths and facts? were basically lost, any help would be appreciated. (were both 15 years old living in canada) |

| That sucks man. Well if you are on the computer at least they haven't started banning you from computer, friends, etc like overprotective parents like to do. I got away with relatively no punishment, but I said it was for medical reasons. You could give it a shot but you better understand that they are going to get you checked out of you do. In this case enjoy your computer and friends while you have them. The probation sucks, but it is bearable. Try hiding some form of communication such as a PSP, iTouch, or something that connects to the internet so that you aren't truly cut off from the world. I didn't have a device that could and it sucked. Last edited by willowmp : 06-30-2009 at 03:16 PM. |

| When you say roaches... how many are we talking here, just 2? Or is it more like 5-6? Seeing how you're only 15 most parents still see themselves as responsible for your actions and they don't feel you've fully grown yet (rightly so) and therefore don't want to see you go downhill this early in your life. Sure, you can print out some myth/fact sheets and then perhaps highlight the factors that you think your parents might find to be the most important, ie... brain damage, heart/lung damage... etc. Let them know that ZERO people have died from marijuana being the direct cause of death. If they drink alcohol, then perhaps you should show them how many people die from ingesting alcohol/year or something. My parents let me drink when I was 15-16 so they've always been pretty lenient (seeing how buying me liquor was illegal itself). For you, I'd suggest you *show* them that you're responsible by: 1) Maintaining your social life 2) Get a job/volunteer/do something constructive with your time so they feel you're not just getting high all the time. 3) Keep up your grades (hard to do in the summer).... 4) Be polite and respectful of them, meaning help them around the house and generally be a good son (or daughter?) so that they feel you're developing into a mature person. I was able to show my parents that I could maintain a quality lifestyle while still smoking the ganja (I'm 19 now) and now the legal factor doesn't really come into play. As long as they know you are a smart kid with a good head on your shoulders, they should become more lenient in time. They (likely) won't change their minds overnight but you can pick away at them by *showing* them that you're mature/responsible enough to have a little doobie with a friend once in awhile. If all else fails... just use better judgment, meaning MAKE SURE there is nothing left behind after you smoke. Keep track of what you used and where it ends up. Have a designated hiding spot that is convenient and easily accessible, yet concealable. Or just get high at a friend's house or something like that... you are only 15 and there's plenty of girls (or boys?) out there that you can be chasing around, sports to play, groups to join, etc... as long as you don't focus all your attention on pot and can keep up a healthy lifestyle, you should be okay in time. Let us know how it turns out

Thanks for the post it was really helpful... we both do play hockey at a high level and my friend has a 95 average still smoking pot along the way. Unfortunately his parents and mine think that it makes you a bad person and harms you which we all know isnt the case.. i've proven them wrong before but they dont seem to accept that i am in fact right.. | |

| I agree with Marijuana Man except for the fact that his parents seem very lenient. It sounds like you have what I call "dicks" for parents. You know, the type that make you go to bed obscenely early, the type that need full details on who your chilling with including parent numbers of the kids, they type that are completely anti-drug and somehow went through life without trying it. But trying to get them to understand is worth a shot. |

| I just talked to my mom I tried to convince her how it's not bad and shit... But she kept saying that it was bad even though I prove her wrong and I have proof to back myself up and she has absolutely no proof.. She assumes she is right just because people are misinformed and most people generally think it is bad meanwhile they can't provide an example why.. It's like I just can't win... Any more advice?anything would be appreciated |

| Try showing them people who smoke and have a normal life, check Very Important Potheads. It might help a bit, also ask them how could they think is so bad, when all this scientific data shows that it is not nearly as bad as it has been told. Also when you tell them this, ask politely to be allowed to speak, and ask them to please listen to your points and even if they don't believe you, check the facts online or something, and when they speak, allow them to speak, and once they're finished, tell them you would like to show them the facts online, etc etc... Hope that helps! |

| try asking them why they think it is so bad? ask for reasons and if they give them, then provide evidence to disprove their misconseptions.. if they dont give reasons..ask why they wont give reasons...or if they even have a reason as to why they dislike weed.....and then give more reasons as to why it is good. thats as much help i could give..as soon as my dad found out..i was smoking with him haha good look and hope they come round soon
