my friend is the luckiest kid ever i think. heres some background info...

he has this strange disease that basically makes his arm useless and its extremely painful. he got addicted to a offtopic painkiller, so he decided to start smoking as a painkiller. his parents found out and guess what... they buy him an ounce, bubbler, pipe, and bong. think thats amazing? last night i'm talking to him and i find out his parents just bought him a half pound of weed. yes, you heard me right, a HALF POUND!

why cant my parents be like this????

I'm sorry kiddo, but I'd rather have use of my arms than all the weed in the world. I think most people would agree with me on this one. He's "lucky" because he's lost use of an appenndage and got himself strung out on painkillers? Yep, sounds like a lottery winner to me How can people be so callous? Think about what losing the use of your arm would mean....and reconsider how "lucky" your friend really is. I hope to God you're just being a troll, because if you TRUELY feel this way, you are one of the most unsenstive individuals I've had the misfortune of encountering. Wake up and smell reality...its where most of us live on a daily basis

ok i didnt say it right... you all COMPLETELY misunderstood me. hes basically a perfectly normal kid. his arm is just extremely painful. but its still working fine. and when hes high his arm doesnt hurt. so he just smokes a lot and hes perfectly normal. no i'm not some completely fucking asshole who wishes awful illnesses on people... you'd have to be a complete dick. but trust me, hes lucky. anyone would want a half pound FOR FREE from they're parents if their arm hurt.

does that clarify things for everyone?

i know what you mean. but if you were STUCK with the disease, honestly its a pretty good deal. i wish my chronic disease let me get a lot a free weed :P lol, but like i said not all of us are that lucky. guess its really just an opinion tho? it could also be because i'm really good friends with the kid and know his situation better.

So his arm hurts all the time apart from when he's high? You realize how much of a setback even that will be for the rest of his life? I'm sure we've all been in the situation where you've twisted or badly bruised your arm before - all I can say is it's a total pain in the ass. Fair enough, you can still function in life fairly normally, but everything is that much harder. I for one would never trade my own health for some weed, no matter how much. Money can be earnt and weed can be bought; but your friend evidently can't 'fix' his arm - from what you've said that's likely to handicap him his entire life.

What happens later on when he has to stop smoking to pass that drug test at work? Back on the prescription meds again? Wonderful - to be honest, your friend sounds extremely unlucky, just with kind, loving open minded parents.

It sounds like because you've known him for a while, his arm hurting is just a part of everyday life for you. Well that's all fine and well, and I imagine he does what he can to ignore the pain, but that still dosen't change the facts. Lets look at relationships, for example; How many people do you know who'd want to get into a committed relationship with someone who is either high all the time, or in a lot of pain?

Tons of weed dosen't make a good life, hell, if he needs to rely on weed to make life ok then there's clearly something wrong.

Threads won't be closed just because they may be considered "mean" Unless this breaks out into a flame war where people start earning infractions for telling the OP how they really feel about his (her?) insensitivity, theres no reason to close it. Not every thread will appeal to every individual, but that doesn't mean they should be closed necessarily if someojne takes offense.

No, we all understand...its just most of us would rather have pain-free, deisease free arms than a 1/2 lb of free weed. If someone OFFERED me a free 1/2 lb, I'd take it, but not at the price of the functionality of my arm. And which is it? 1st post you say his arm has a strange disease that makes it unuseable and painful, and then when criticized, you say it works perfectly fine and he is "normal". As much as I like to be high, theres no way I'd want a disease that left me in extreme pain if i wasn't high. I think we all have a better understanding of why we think you're in the wrong than you do.
