| I have been wondering for quite some time if smoking marijuana reflects on where you are in society? Are the majority of smokers lower class, middle class, upper class? Are the people that post on this site in one of those categories? Do we have people in college posting on this site? In grad school? I am just wondering if I am locking myself into a certain category by toking. | |

| Some of us are in college, some in high school, some employed white collar, blue-collar, and even a couple cops in here .Marijuana use spans across all socio-economic barriers. A lot are low-class, too (but since WE have computers, it's not likely any of us are the poorest of the poor). As far as who gets "busted", it's a known fact that impoverished areas are more rigorously patrolled and the dwellers in those locales tend to be outdoors more often, are less likely to afford a decent attorney, and have less political clout to get one of those "get out of jail free" cards. <edited out by Randøm_, more defensive than proper> I, for one, believe that you should make a personal choice and, if that choice is to use herbs, then do it responsibly. <edited out by Randøm_, more defensive than proper> MJ is not for everyone, therein lies the decisions that each of us must make. | |

| as far as i can see there's no link between class and mj use. i'm a junior in a good college and it doesnt effect me or my grades. it just depends on how well you can manage yourself i guess. from what i've seen if you have trouble managing yourself to begin with, weed wont help matters. but if you can manage yourself, weed should pose no problem. | Yeah, nice quotes. ![]() I'm a (reluctant) mechanical engineering student, currently doing my masters. Middle-class background, in other words. But as Randøm points out, since all of us here have computers, we're obviously not statistically representative of all smokers. I presume there's been research done on this. Maybe on the net somewhere? Problem with all research on MJ is that only about 1% of it is unbiassed, one way or the other. Oh well. ![]()
