| I'm 23 and have 2 kids, (ages 4 and 1). My kids are still pretty small so I do my buisness at night. Mostly because kids will say anything, usually at the wrong time. But my 4 year old is REALLY smart, and starting to ask questions. I've told her that "it's mommys medicine" then quickly divert her attention, but now I'm becoming more active and starting to speak out. I'm wondering, what is the best way to go about it? I know of other people who are open about it with their kids and they just tell them, "Mommy and Daddy will go to jail if you tell anyone." But I really don't want to put that kind of pressure on them. At the same time, I feel the Laws are wrong, not me. A lot of my friends have parents that smoke and they started much earlier than I would want my kids to consider the issue. Any suggestions?

| I thought I'd reply to your question. I also have a baby girl (9 months), and wonder the same thing. I think I'll try to keep it from her until she is a teen. I agree w/you that the "mommy will go to jail" thing is too much to lay on kids. The only thing about trying to hide it from anyone, is the smell is so strong! Hmmmm..... | |
