| Just here to sadly annouce that I am done with weed, after 7 months of heavy smoking I cannot smoke again. About 4 days ago I was doing some very heavy smoking, about twice a day, and every day in a row. Something happened in my life, prior to these 4 days that just devastated me, and I thought by smoking I could help ease the pain. I am normally a very tense and nervous person, I always have been. And of course when I smoke I always felt my heart POUNDING out of my chest. Always ignored it, even though sometimes it was hard to do. I am sure you have always had the panic attacks when first coming up, on some very powerful weed. Well, I am not blaming weed entirely, but the combined stress of what happened the prior week, and the strong anxiety of coming up on this powerful last batch of weed did something terrible to me. For the past 5 days I have had a racing heart. Shortness of breath, etc. Finally late on night 5 of feeling like this, I couldn't take it anymore. I was hoping it would go away, but it just didnt. I ended up driving myself to the ER late Sunday night. When I was admited my heart-rate was 180 beats a minute, I felt as though I was going to die, when I finally arrived at the hospital. Not terribly out of shape, and only 26 years old, I couldn't beleive this was happening. They hooked me up to a some sort of IV, that brought down my heart back to 80. I was 100 times over the normal heart-rate! This morning I am sitting here typing this message feeling 100% better. My chest still sore like someone punched me about 1000 times in the chest. Now I know I cannot blame the weed entirely, like I said something happend very tramatic to me during the week, combined with the heavy smoking, lack of excersise, and 5 to 6 hours of very tense computer gaming, before bed every night, all of that combined messed me up. Going to throw out my nice bowl, and bag of weed today, it was a FUN 7 months, and I am going to miss weed terribly (you know how fun it is to smoke up and play death-match games on your computer stoned?) it feels like your actually in the game! But it does make you heart race. Guess weed is not for me, with a slight heart murmer, and being generally very tense, I just cant handle it. What a bummer. I was also freaking out, because after they got my heart rate down, they took X-RAYS of my chest, they asked when I was admited if I did any illegal drugs, well that is when parents arrived, and I had to lie and say NO. I planned on telling the doctor if parents didnt show up, but I really couldn't after they arrived. WEED is the ONLY illegal drug I have ever done in my life. I thought for sure they would find out I was smoking from the x-rays of my lungs & chest, but they never said anything. Then again maybe 7 months of smoking is not enough to show up on your lungs yet? Ohh well, still will hang around and read the messages on the board, but I am afraid my weed days are over. Although a bit off topic, please answer this one question for me. Would the effects of hallucinogenic mushrooms bring on the same anxiety attacks/rapid heart beat upon COMING UP as good weed does? Thanx, moderator please dont delete this thread, thank you. |

| Sorry to hear you're ending your weed days. Are you sure the weed wasn't laced with something you weren't prepared for? If your body can't handle weed, you shouldn't try mushrooms. It just doesn't sound like a wise gamble to me. As for throwing out your good bowl and a bag of weed, give it to one of your good friends. It'll be a special gift to someone and I'm sure they won't soon forget the gesture. I had a friend who couldn't smoke due to his enrollment in the Coast Guard so he gave me his favorite bowl and a bag of weed. I always toke on the bowl he gave me in honor of him. Hope things work out for you! Peace. Nessa

| That's rough, man, but you made the right decision. Weed doesn't do anything to my heart rate.. if anything, it lowers it. True enough, it affects everyone differently… but 180 BPM? Wow! take it easy, jac |

| I didnt throw away my bowl and weed just yet, maybe someday a long time from now I will take a small toke here and there. I noticed if I take small amount I feel nice, it just when I smoke a whole PACKED bowl FAST, when I start getting the fast heart beats etc, etc. Also going to get off my lazy-as* and start doing some walking, this whole thing prob started because I am under a lot of stress during my everyday life, and never get any excersise, or anyway to release the tension. |

| good call dude, i started experiencing a slight shortness of breath and i hate to think of myself as someone who's out of shape so i started up a nice little exercise routine about a month ago that involves just about a half hour of jogging or hiking a couple times a week and some weights here and there and i feel sooo much better....i've also been way more productive with things that i like to (or have to) do....its incredible what a little exercise can do man. go for it! | |

| Dude, Sounds to me like a panic attack probably brought on by the recent stress. Some people are prone to these, and trust me they are very physical in nature. I had one when my Dad was very ill and I also ended up in the ER with a sky high heart rate. It's scary as hell so I feel for you. Anyhow, the weed probably did not cause the attack, but it may have intensified it. For me weed intensifies whatever it is I'm feeling so I tend to avoid it if I'm feeling really anxious. Let me give you a tip: if you feel your heart racing gently massage the sides of your throat where you can feel your pulse. This will bring your heart rate down. It works, I have done it to myself and I have done it to patients in the hospital (I am a nurse). Good Luck Maggie | |

| Just smoke once a week or something. Eat right, keep your mind at ease and occupied (Ex: play mind games, and keep educating yourself), Exersice, Sleep. But that does sound like a panic attack, some kid has them every once in a while in my math class. Just keep yourself in good condition and smoke every once in a while.
