Considering that several people who have posted pictures of themselves in various places have gotten busted as a result, I thought it would be of benefit to the community to mention that such actions can have undesirable consequences.

Why does almost everyone who posts on these forums use a pseudonym instead of their real name? I've always assumed that it was to maintain anonymity - that's why I do it. A picture of your face is much more of a positive ID than your name could ever be.

oh yea i totally see how you were trying to help out people and benefit the community with your kind words by warning people of undesirable consequences their actions may have of posting random pictures on a message board...

I didn't know about this. Can you point me to some examples? Was the problem that a person posted pictures of themselves which led to a bust, or that a person posted pictures of themselves in an easily identifiable location that led to a bust? Were you referring to people on this site, or social networking sites (myspace, facebook)? It's easier to bust people on the networking sites because their information is more readily available.

Right, but unless the cop recognizes that face and knows where to find that person, it's hard to bust him. It just seems like a very small chance.

It seems to me that in the past seven years and over 170 pages that this issue has come up a few times before.

Haven't heard of anyone from this thread being busted for their participation yet. Of course we all take our own chances. Those that haven't felt it is worth the risk haven't posted. Seems simple to me.
