| ^^ i agree that you should wait, and not let pot control your life. I never smoked until 16, and i had plenty of good times without it. But if waiting for you to be able to live without pot as an adult is the answer, then why do it when you are an adult at all (following your logic). |

| "But if waiting for you to be able to live without pot as an adult is the answer, then why do it when you are an adult at all (following your logic)." For recreation.....and as an adult you are more likely to be able to keep it recreational than if you start smoking as a child.

| but the reason is still the same, at least to start out, and they dont even believe its ok for that. But something funny is, after all day talking, the reasons that they have given me are: It causes schizophrenia lol the smoke is bad for you it causes paranoia and most ppl (i hope) here know those are myths and i still have no reason to stop, they say they will research for a reason (they will find none) and then....? |

| "the smoke is bad for you" Inhaling any smoke into your lungs isn't really good for you. I have seen vaporizers suggested but I am not sure displaying knowledge about different techniques to get high is going to put your parents at ease. "it causes paranoia" Not really a myth....being high can cause you to get paranoid (or at least enhance it). If you are talking about a permanent paranoia then no...but to say that the idea that it causes paranoia is a myth isn't entirely accurate. "and most ppl (i hope) here know those are myths and i still have no reason to stop" So, your possible long term mental developement and ability to cope with things as an adult is not a reason to stop eh? Have I also mentioned that teenagers are often impulsive and usually are not able to grasp the concept of long term consequences? "they say they will research for a reason (they will find none) and then....?" They will find some. Whether or not their reasons satisfy you is another story. Your parents will most likely still say that they don't want you smoking pot and then....? |

| I don't know what all of this hostile posting crap is all about, but you need to tell your parents the truth. Does it help you end a day right? Or start it off right? Say that. "It helps me let off steam for a couple hours"... Eventually, they will find out the myths without you telling if they do enough research, and since they are both psychologists, they probably will be very interested with all of the information, too. My opinion. I don't know about referring them directly to the boards, since you have a name and they would probably like to know it... And some parents like to go through their childrens stuff, so they might want your name, and to check your posts. And who knows, they could definitely be turnt off by some of your posts. Not saying anything, but it's possible you could have typed something dumb and discouraging at least once. Are your grades good? Are you sane? Happy with life? Mature? Intelligent? Responsible? Ect... you could ask board members by making another thread, I bet someone will like that. Or perhaps private message others about their life, if they want to answer... See how successful, and happy with life they are all grown up. PS, my search feature does not work. It will not work, and I've tried everything to get it too. These are some ideas. |

| It "causes schizophrenia" only in the UK and Australia. It's their latest form of Reefer Madness™. Even there, they don't go so far as to say it "causes schizophrenia". They say that if you are predisposed towards schizophrenia, you are more likely to develop symptoms than you would otherwise be. That's one way of looking at the minimal data they've pieced together. My interpretation is that people experiencing mental difficulties are more likely to try marijuana to make them feel better. This is supported by the fact that a very large percentage of people with schizophrenia use cannabis to obtain some relief. Quote:

Tell your parents that the safest place for you to smoke is at home. That's what my parents told me.IMO, if you start using any drug as a means to relieve stress or depression, you are heading down the wrong road, one that leads to dependence. If you start doing that as a teenager, you could well be in for a world of hurt.

| Buzzby hit both schizophrenia and the smoke dead on, but my dad talked about long term perminant paranoia. W/e i know he was wrong and just posted to show how ridiculous their info was. I told them that they are punishing me for doing this plant that they say will control and kill every aspect of life (friends, job, driving, school, etc) when they are the only ones controlling them now just bc i smoke pot. Makes no sense. I get good grades, i dont skip school, ive never had any trouble with the law (except smoking of course, never got caught though) etc, yet they still insist on taking away all privileges for this. |

| I suggest you use the search engine, there is PLENTY of information on this website, just look around. If you cant seem to find what your looking for here, which is almost impossible, then use google. All the information in the world isnt going to make her feel comfortable about letting you smoke, she is looking out for your well being, not the statistics. Make sure you let her know, that weed isnt a habbit, its a hobby. |

I know that this will not be a popular opinion, but I think that as long as you're living under their roof and they are covering your expenses, you should follow their rules. Except for medical users, no one needs to smoke marijuana. I took a multi-year break and it didn't hurt me at all. | ||
