ok so i just got home from school like 30 min ago. and i walked back to my room and my dad was like "let me ask you a question" i said ok and hes was like "are you smoking pot" i said maybe why and he said "i found your bong" and then he said he threw it away. i just got that like 3 days ago also. but anyway i must have left it setting on the table in my room b4 school today and fogot to put it away. hes not that mad about it he just says i need to stop. basically what im sayin is that i need some help on how to convince him that its not bad and to help him be ok wit it. HELP PLEASE!

Hey, do you still live with your dad? Because if you do, then you should respect his rules, at least untill you're on your own. And if you really want your folks to be ok with it, try doing what I did: I proved to them, over the course of my high school carrear (I graduated in '03) that I was responciable (I can't spell. Spell Check kinda spoiled me, sorry.), by working hard, never breaking curfew, but twice, and just generally appearing to obey the rules.
Flash forward three years, it's '06, and I told my dad. He was like "Yeah, I figured as much, but you don't over do it, so I don't care." I'm a bit high, but what I'm getting at is just prove that you're mature, and can handle yourself and eventually you're dad will "be ok with it". It might take untill after you're 18, but it will happen.
Oh, and one more thing: I didn't start smoking pot untill my second semester at college, and I was living in a whole different city.

I was in almost the exact situation as you the other day...I got home from school the other day and seeing as it was a nice day and my mom was taking a nap, I decided to go outside and take some hits...I'm mid-hit and my mom comes outside and tells me to get inside...We have a long conversation about how "I'm doing drugs"...Long story slightly less long, you can't convince a parent who's stuck in the "Just Say No" era that weed is not bad. Just have to be careful.

Just got caught last week by campus police. It was a bad situation, someone I guess had broken a light down the hall and they were knocking on all rooms to try to get some info. they came to our door and someone answered and then shut the door, stupid I know. They said they smelled pot so we opened and everyone was silent. Their were 11 people in the room and 5 of them were friends of mine from out of town. There was probably close to an ounce in that room so when they said fess up and let's get this over with I opened my mouth. Said we smoked a doobie and that we were done by the time they had knocked. Cop was really cool, stopped his partner from calling back-up and searching everyone. From what I can tell 'll be charged with causing illicit harm to myself, haven't gotten the notice yet. BTW this was at 2:00 in the morning.

I've been smoking for awhile now, since 7th grade to be exact. Back then I used to walk around with a lot of weight not giving a shit and not even knowing the consequences of getting caught. Luckily I was never caught by the law (so far, parents are another story) and have some tips for everyone to keep it that way.

1. Don't walk around with unnecessary weight or paraphernalia. If you know you and your mates are just going to meet up and smoke a blunt, THEN JUST BRING THE BLUNT. Don't bring random weed/paraphernalia that you're pretty sure is going to go unsmoked because you're just putting yourself in a situation to get caught.

2. No public place is a "perfect spot". No matter how comfortable you get in your location, YOU CAN STILL GET CAUGHT. I've seen this happen to so many people. They get so used and comfortable with smoking in some park/location that they don't follow any precautions and by random chance get caught by a patrolling officer. Always look around and make sure it's clear before starting, no matter how many times you've been there. This advice also applies to smoking inside with parents. Wait for them to go to sleep, make sure they've actually left etc and are not coming back soon.

3. For the kids: If you can smoke outside, do it. Smoking outside leaves you with zero problems of cleaning up the smell afterwards and just makes everything simpler. It leaves no smellable evidence of your smoke session.

4. If you can ditch it, ditch it. If it's inevitable you're about to get caught ditch everything. It doesn't matter how much that bowl cost or how good that weed is. CHUCK IT. Trying to be sneaky and keeping something illegal on you when being approached by an officer/parent is not a good idea.

5. Use good hiding places and double check you've put everything away. Having a shitty generic hiding place like some random draw will eventually fuck you over. If you have people living inside your house expect them to open random things and stumble upon open places. ALWAYS use a clever inventive hiding place, and attempt to "double hide". What I mean by that is, if they can see the item with just simply opening something, your hiding place sucks. Try and make it so they have to open something AND move/look under another object to be able to find anything. Adding this extra security could save your neck if someone decides to meander in your room one day. If there's a doubt in your mind that you left the bong out on the table, CHECK IT. It's better to be safe than sorry. Excuse the cliché. One last thing, DON'T HIDE YOUR WEED OUTSIDE. I've personally have had bad experiences with this, and is just overall a terrible idea. You can never predict the weather or animals.

6. Don't let using precautionary tactics become routine. If you chew gum/use spray after smoking and it has worked, keep doing it and do it right. You never know how close of a call you'll experience that night and a half-assed job could do you in.

7. If your inviting a group of people over your house to smoke while your parents are away PLAN AHEAD. Don't spur of the moment big plans like this. Make sure your parents will not come home, because nothing is more embarrassing than getting your friends and yourself caught by your parents. Luckily my friends are fast and have incredibly lucky timing. This could not be the same in your case.

I have gottten caught numerous times by my mom. My dad doesn't give a shit and sometimes smokes with me but my mom is a real heinous bitch about pot. She found my 2-footer once and actually walked in on me hitting a joint with my friends in my room. I tend to get caught a lot only because it doesnt effect me all that much. My dad tokes and he doesnt want me to go to rehab so im pretty safe. I've gotten caught with mushrooms too, that sucked.
