Unhappy In my first post to this thread

I really didn't say all that was in my mind at the time.
the topic just happened to catch my attention not long after news of my daughters retention to the 8th grade.I will not go into the conversation that took place,but I would like to say a word to any parents who might possibly read this thread.
If you are one of the more fortunate ones who has found the key to instilling the strength,and determination that it takes our youth in these times to ignore the negative elements,and push to achieve their goals,you are envied!
If you are one of the members of this years graduating seniors,I stand and applaud you ....!with the highest admiration I can express.
I am proud to be among your company
B.suede

T.C. if you were my kid ,you'd have this college fund I've been putting away for 17 years,for the first one who made it ..........It' jus keeps gettin bigger and bigger

Cool I was a freak...

In high school, I was the worst kind of freak. I was in forensics (no, not scientific dissection of human bodies but speech and theatrical competition), and a cheerleader. I was cool with slight undertones of uncool. I was glad to have graduated. I was sick of all the melodrama and politics.

Little did I know it got worse as time progressed.

I didn't toke once in high school and I'm glad I didn't. It just wasn't in my agenda at the time. Now, I make time for my old friend Mary.

And I always will.

I always have a little soft spot for graduations. They're so full of pomp that its kinda interesting to try to comprehend what graduating really means. The end of one stage in your life and the beginning of another. But, I often wonder, why is high school graduation so god damned important? If you think about it, other countries don't take as much interest or pride in this accomplishment. It's an odd thing to ponder but who cares. Pondering anything is quite entertaining.

Peace.

Nessa

way back when....
when a high school diploma insured you a good job, graduation was very important. Now, it just seems its another step...you cant get a job without some kind of college. Still graduation from hs holds something special i guess, i had an 8th grade graduation as well, which was when i left elementry school. Its an odd society we live in.

life life life. We all have to grow up some time. Im slowly realising that right now as i set here. My mom reminded me that as of july 1st i have to be paying my own bills. At first i was terribly mad, i felt betrayed in a way but now i realise thats just childish of me. Everyone has to leave the nest even if mommy birds not in it anymore, its still her nest she pays the bills. So now i must fly to my own nest, wherever that may be. College PHAW i dont know how im gonna manage that, ill have to wait untill next year i guess. Its going to be tough paying for rent, electric, phone, internet. Luckily i dont have weed thrown into that mix. But add more bills onto that like insurance and gas money. Ahhhh man. With any luck ill have saved enough money soon to get a car, or people will be generous and give me money for graduation, after all im #2 in my whole family to do so. But life is difficult, i will survive though, i always do. It may take running an ad for a roommate or bunking up with a friend but i will survive. Alls i know is wow what a trip, out of high school and dropped onto the doorstep of the world. I hope i make it but if not, well if not i dont know....sigh...life life life.

Default Still glad I'm young

Still four aways from there and I've realized to enjoy it while it lasts , which isn't very long. I don't want to grow up (maybe I'm having my mid life crisis in my teens!). Why can't I be like Peter Pan .

Cool the importance of highskewl diploma?

IMHO there could be more imphasis placed on the attainment of wisdom and knowlegePublic education systems in the U.S. or anywhere for that matter, in my opinion,are a reflection of how our civilization is advancing ...
and i still have hope

bowlnote:i also would like to point out, for obvious reasons,i must agree that too much knowlege could set off an imbalance of "life as we know it"and who in their right mind wants that?b.s.

Sorry for gettin off topic but when I read the title of this thread, I thought of something different to what it was. Let me TRY to explain.

Ok, in our group of stoners, we have, well, I suppose it's a code or something, but yeah. We substitute words for working words...

Smoking = Working
Session = Shift
Apprentice = A new smoker
Graduate = A new regular smoker

And **** like that. It works well though.

"You working tonight?"

"Yeah, haven't had a shift in ages."
