Hey guys, I just got busted for possession last night. But im off to work soon. So ill post the story a little later tonight.

Well here it goes. I went down to a local park to hang out with some friends. I had brought some pot down along with some papers and my friend had a pipe. Well we were going to roll the joint back in the woods under a bridge (no one ever goes back there, except some kids to smoke sometimes). Well as we were walking over a train came by, so we said screw that too much wind. So we were going to roll it in the playground but there was a little kid around there so we didnt want to do that (there was no one else in the park except for us and the little kid). So we walk over to a bench and my friend Charles begins to roll it because i am too lazy. I threw in some pot and my other friend lets call him Tom took out his pipe and threw in some resinated nugs. Well i see two other friends i know walking down the hill to the park. One of them whispers to us theres a cop in the woods behind you and walks away. At first i said "What? Cop?, what are you talking about". I used to fool around and say hey guys the cops are here alot, so i didnt take it serious at first.It didnt make sense for their to be a cop in the woods behind us anyways . So shortly after this me Tom and Charles got up and started walking away fast, i turned around but saw no one. So we get about 5 feet and i hear a man say "hand it over". I turn around to see a man in a black uniform come out of the woods. I froze and suddenly got a huge adrenaline rush. However he only stopped me and my friend Charles. He obviously saw Tom but didnt stop him. He informed me that he had just watched me roll a joint. I gave him my papers and the joint and, and he said "Where is the container you had". So i took that out of my pocket and gave that up as well. Then he did a very very thorough search of me. I mean he even checked my cell phone battery and a pack of gum. I had to take off my shoes, socks, and even open up my mouth. For some reason i thought i would get off without any trouble. The cop said hand him over anything i had or he said he would get even more pissed off than he already was and i didnt put up a fight or anything. So he says hes going to take us back to the station. I was not handcuffed or read my rights at all at this point. Well my and my friend Charles get in the back seat. I said "Sir my friend didnt have anything to do with this, he was just sitting next to me, the pot was mine". He says okay but he is still going to bring my friend up to the station. Well we get to the station and i am taken into an office while my friend sits in a chair outside. He asks me if my parents have ever caught me smoking, i said yes i had been caught once before. He tellls me he hasnt had to deal with someone my age in quite a while and that he was considering whether or not he should give me a break. He continues to fill out some papers about my personal information. He then asks me where i got the pot. I told him i didnt know. He said ive heard too many dumb things already today. He continued to ask me about this and i continued to answer i dont know. He then told me that i was really pissing him off. He told me to call my parents and to have them come down. He said what happens depends on how fast my parents get there. He then got frustrated because my parents had not gotten there as quick as he had hoped. He had very little patience. There was another officer in the room since i had got in the office by the way. Well my dad enters the room and the cop informs him about what happened. He showed my dad the few grams he had collected, the papers, and the joint. My dad instantly asked the officer if he could give me a break for several different reasons. The officers response was " I have given about 60 kids breaks and it doesnt seem to do them any good. I still catch kids when i sneak around in the woods. The past six kids i have not given any breaks to. So i am not going to give him any sort of break. You have to make sure that your son appears in court in two weeks at 9 a.m.".

Well guys this was my first time getting arrested. My friend Charles and Tom got away with nothing. Charles didnt deserve anything. I totally had forgot Tom threw down for the joint and intended to smoke it until my friend Charles reminded me on the way back. This upset me slightly and im dissapointed in my friend but oh well. I was the only one that got a court date or anything. I later found out that as i got taken away there were 2 kids already smoking in the playground around the little kid and the cop didnt even notice. This was my unlucky day. I really cant believe i got caught and it hasnt really hit me. Kinda weird, I had a dream the night before that i had gotten arrested for possession, but it took place in a mall. Well im never going to smoke in a park again, and be careful everyone because cops can be sneaky. I would have never expected one to sneak up on us from the woods without hearing them. Be paranoid, its a good thing, I was careless and im going to pay for it. Well feel free to post any feelings, related experiences, advice, etc. Also what do you think the court will give me? Probation? Fine? Rehab? This is my first criminal offense.

that has got to suck big, If i were u i wouldnt have even smoked the day after having a dream of getting caught that would be to freaky for me. but i think that u will only get probation, but then again i dont know jack. Also u should have placed this into the protecting ur rights forum becasue u would prolly get a better answer there from niteshift. anyways i hope that everything works out

hey wait, they didn't read you your rights??? isn't that a miranda violation??? They aren't allowed to ask you any questions if they haven't read you your rights. Get them on that.

Thats what i thought too, but i talked to someone about it and they told me otherwise. But well see what happens.

no offence but man, why didnt you book out of that park. i dont know if you have ever run from cops before, but they are slow as all hell. plus take a look at thier boots. them boots werent made for runnin'.

but that sucks all the same, i am sorry....you will get probation i am almost sure, rehab too and maybe some community service. i have never gotten busted (knock on wood) but my friends have.

how old are you (the age comment by the cop), and depending on your state it will prob be dif but you will prob only get probation, prepare for a long period of sobriety.

What you end up getting will depend upon the laws in your state, city, and county, all may/will come into play.

I got arrested in Marion Co., Ohio (stay out of marion!!!!!) not too long ago by a highway patrolmen. I'm 18 with no prior record. I got off lucky $100 fine plus court costs. The only other thing they could have done was taken my license away for 6 months, but my lawyer was able to get around that.

Now, that's just what happened to me, if you haven't already, get a lawyer, see what he can do for you. The law is full of all kinds of loopholes.

Just some advice for the future. Never hand over anything that's in your pocket. Let him reach in and find it. I don't know if it could have helped in this case but it may in others. The cop will be real pissed if he has to search you and find something, but whether you hand over the bag or whehther he has to find it doesn't matter, either one will still land you in jail, and it may give your lawyer something to use (note: MAY). Just a couple things I've learned.

Im 15, turning 16 in a few weeks (after the courtdate). I live in NY. I always thought i would run, but he snuck up right behind me and i just froze and got a huge adrenaline rush. Wasnt sure what to do. Im pretty sure i wont get rehab. I was more concerned about probation.

Miranda rights can be read to you at anytime or not. Just to let ya know from my busted experience, they didnt do that right away to me either. I thought the same isnt that a fault on their part wont i get off? NOPE but hey the clear head did me good. Be more carefull next time.
