| Just thought i'd start a thread where people could talk about their heroes. These could be people that have directly influenced your life or you even if you just admire them, it doesnt matter if you knew them or not, or if they're living or dead. One of my personal heroes is the late great Brazilian Ayrton Senna. Senna was THE BEST formula one driver ever, he drove for McLaren for Six seasons winning 3 world championships in 4 years and set 65 pole position laps. Senna was tragically killed at the San Marino Grand prix at Imola in 1994 when he hit the wall after flying off at the Tamborello curve. He is a Hero in Brazil and and since his death f1 cars are much safer. You can see a senna tribute video at www.gtf1.com in the vidoes section if you feel like downloading 11mb. The backing music is the excellently talented Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah. So people lets hear it, who are your heroes? |

| In my view a hero is someone who lives how he wants to live, no matter how outside the norm it is. My heroes are probably people like Jack Kerouac, Neal Cassidy, the entire Grateful Dead. These people also contributed something great to the realm of art and life, something that lives on to this day.

| I had to think about this abit. I really only have sporting heos. Probabily the biggest one currently would have to be Justin Langer. This dude plays cricket for Western Australia and Australia. He has been shafted a couple of times (droped from the test team and being the perocial fan I am I think he got a raw deal) but it hasn't dampened his enthusiasm, determination etc and he has kept going and made it back to the top level. Senna was a truely great driver and his memory lives on. RIP |

| My heroes are generally people who are unique, and are not afraid to stand up for what they believe, who have original ideas, outstanding, almost insane talents, and so on. Being the die hard music fan that I am, and being a musician, these heroes of mine tend to be musicians. Some of my biggest "heroes" are, Syd Barrett - an insanely genius musician, he could write like the maniac he is. when I say maniac, I mean in a sparkling, amazing, philosophical kind of way. truly a crazy diamond. shine on.David Gilmour - An outstanding guitarist. You can always tell when it's David Gilmour who's playing because he's just got his own style and tone which I admire very much. Definately up there with all the other great guitarists, and in my opinion, extremely underrated. Stevie Ray Vaughan - Yet another undescribably amazing guitarist. Stevie is one of my greatest all-time heroes. There is nobody greater than Stevie, IMHO. His soul-piercing guitar licks, and spine tingling vocals are one of a kind. I have many, many heroes. People I look up to for everything and anything. These are just some of my biggest. ![]() | |
