| Okay, some more bad stuff has happened to me again. I've decided I'm not smoking till im saftley (yes, I know I spelled it wrong) tucked away at college. Alright, so my parents get a call last night around 8. It turns out to be this old friend of my moms and one of my good friends is locked up in an "institution" in florida. (no idea what tpe institution and I know its in florida because I heard my parents talking bout it later) Well, turns out her (my firend) parents had been recording all her phone calls since last thurday, and they have me on tape talking about getting her some weed. They can only verify 2 deals. Anyway, it turns out, this lady also knows I've been the "supplier" and that my friends mom is calling the police, and that she thought my mom should know. To make a long story short, I go and get my stash, tell my parents that I wasnt involved in the painkillers or the (popular club drug) and that that stuff is bad for you. its the next day, and still no sign from the police. My question is, what do I do? I'm pretty sure my parents aren't going to pay for a lawyer, but can't the police confiscate money out of my bank account... about 90% of the money in it is "illigitamate." Could I use this money to pay for a lawyer. Another thing, can they use info from this site to prosecute me? I'm hoping that maybe theres some technicality I can get a lawyer to exploit for me with the phone recording. Anyone know about this? Thanks a bunch! Peace

| If you want the real answers, talk to a lawyer. I was under the impression that taping a conversation without a warrant was illegal. I don't know how it applies when someone's mother does it. It might be enough for the police to ask you some questions, but since it's illegally obtained evidence I would speculate that there will be contact from the police before there will be any asset freezing or seizing. It might be enough for the police to tap your house NOW though, so I certainly wouldn't say anything incriminating over a phone line for a long time. And you absolutely don't want any contact with your ex-friend, because she's as good as compromised. Again, all speculation on my part. The real answers will come from a lawyer. |

| Parents can tape their children on the phone, it is enough for the police to search and it can be used against you in court. |

| Heh, I'll know if they're listening to my conversations at my house, seeing as all the data/communications lines out of my house are being constantly monitered. I almost always use a cellphone not under my name to talk to people. Are there lawyers who you can like talk to about this without actually paying them there hourly rates? Can I talk to one confidentialy w/o my parents? Peace Out |

| No one is monitoring you You think? Why, because they regard him as small fries? After that post about how it's legal evidence, enough to search, etc etc I'd think the phone would be a higher risk at this point. |

| This situations is kinda sticky to say the least ![]() Personally, if it was me, I would dump any stash you may have (don't want them finding it now do you?) or store it somewhere away where you can get it at a later time Open another account, with a different bank or offshores, and move the money into it If you really want to keep the money, move it into europe somewhere If they're going to prosecute you, make sure they can only prosecute you for the things on the tape, not the "we went to his house and found another ounce, along with a bank full of money" as well

| I don't know about laws in your state, but here in michigan, it is illegal to tape a conversation unless at least one of the people involved in the conversation knows they are being taped. However, I don't know how that relates to parental rights. But I bet that they won't be able to use your part of the conversation in court. Maybe their own kids', but not yours. |

| I cant do anything about withdrawls or changing accounts, Im only 17. Ive tried before and they need my moms signature, and her drivers license. About the recordings, it kinda seems like they should need my parents signature somewhere... why do I have this feelin my mom would say she didn't care they were recording me infront of the law? Peace |
