| Hello Ive really been thinking about moving to the netherlands! Fourtuntally I was born there, but i don't have a dual-cititizinship! My big question is how would i start off my new life in amsterdam! Im only 19 I just got discharged from the airforce for failing a drug test (my life, at least in america, is screwed) I think it would be easyer to start off in another country ("netherlands", since i was born there), then in the US! If i go to a country like netherlands would my record follow me, ( i have a perfect record other then the airforce's drug test) Please please ..... could you give me some info on how i start a new life in the netherlands! Cus i want to get the hell out of this country | |

| I don't think the US government would send a letter to the dutch government telling them that you tested positive for drugs and not to let you in. If you want to move there, then just move there....and bring me with you |

| I feel your pain bro - I'm ex-USAF myself, and I lost some good friends in the AF to pot smoking. They lost all their stripes... a lot of pay...I forget what their discharge was, but it wasn't honorable, and as you well know, anything but honorable sucks. If they still play it the same way, you don't have a court martial, which is good, I'm guessing they went with the article 15? You won't have a drug conviction on your record, but you will have that nasty ass discharge for reasons of drug use, which can be pretty haunting. Good luck man... I know how much of a ***** they can make it. |

| Do a search on the net for information on a visa. The DEA might be a good place to look for that kinda info. I remember doing a search on the country of Niue and ended up on a web site that specializes in starting a new life in another country | |

| Unfortunately, Amsterdam is a VERY hard place for a foreigner to move to...they have a substantial unemployment problem among their own citizens, hence they do not give out many work permits to foreigners. The city itself is extremely crowded, and housing prices are very high (no pun intended)...so unless you have a huge trust fund or an inheritance to pay your way, moving to Amsterdam isn't going to be easy. A lot more people want to live there than they have jobs or space for. Sorry... -C.B. | |

| Hmmm MY kids German/Americans, have dual citzenship. is one of your parents of Dutch Citizenship? If so, have they dropped it in favor of an American citizenship? If you do not have the citizenship it is usually able to be had with residency time and a fee. But you have to get there. Unemployment is high everywherein europe. Believe Me, I live here. Wow, they kicked you out for weed? Were you an N.C.O.? Also thpose records are sealed as long as all you received was administartive justice under the ucmj. Unless changed, and were you not an N.C.O. or Officer. Those records will also be expunged after 3 years I believe. If you are no longer military, administrative punishment is NOT a felony. And you need never present it in civilian life.It is legally confidential. Part of D.O.D. records. Civilians just do not get access to those. According to a Civilian. it never happened. I KNOW!! I gave Uncle a bottle of pee that GLOWED. Dumbest thing. 3 months before a discharge and I had to say goodbye to a buddy with a shared bowl of good hash. *Surprise pee test three hours later** Oh well. It looks tough, the military is so much a part of your life that it takes a couple of months to realize they no longer have their hooks in you. I HIGHLY recommend you stay and make America a better place. But you will do as your wisdom leads. Be well Kelly | |
