| This January I dropped out of high school and planned on getting my GED. My mom set a time I needed to get my GED by, may 23rd. But now I don't know if I want a GED or to go back to school and get my diploma. Everyone I have talked to, even my dealer, said that GED will **** you up in the future, career wise, that is. My plans for when I dropped out was that I would get the GED and then go to community college and do that thing. So what I want to know is should I get a GED, then go to community college or go back to high school, which I don't know if I could handle for another year. | |

| I would think having NOTHING would f*** you up more than having a GED. Don't you think having something to show for yourself, as opposed to just being a high school dropout, would make you more sell-able? I have heard from NUMEROUS people that the GED test is so easy it's practically a joke (I don't know if it's the same everywhere but I'm in GA). You have to figure out what you want to do, but you would probably have no trouble at all going to community college with a GED. Dont you want to get high school behind you? I definitely wouldn't drop out and then go back. Just get your GED. |

| As long as your not having super problems in High School, Id say just get your diploma, your career selection would be much better. But I guess it all depends on what YOU want to do. But if you have problems in High School (hey alota people do) then just try and get your GED. But whatever it is good luck

| Hm, I know I've posted this somewhere... but quick version: Friend dropped out and got GED before we graduated and was in college before us. I don't recommend dropping out of HS, but if you've already done it and have demonstrated that you don't care to return, just get the damn GED and move on. [edit] My thoughts are based on my personal experiences with my younger bro who has been in and out of school several times (currently dropped out).... when he does go to school, he cuts so often that they send home a letter saying he won't receive any credit for missing so much class... not that he'd pass anyway. Why torture yourself and your parents? Just get the GED. [/edit] |

| As long as you go to college then it wont usally matter much at all. It all depends on your situation... I mean you really didnt give us that much info. If you have a couple months left untill you finish highschool then I would finish. But if (depending on why you dropped out) then it might just be eaiser and better too get the GED and go straight to college after you are done.

| Man, a GED might be aproblem if you were gonna try and get into harvard, but not community college. And after that it would depend on your career, but I really doubt it would be a problem. A degree is a degree, its not like they put your gpa on the thing.

| You can still go to community college for a year or so and transfer to University or somthing though... So its not like you are just limited to a community college degree... But yea, it would be really hard to get into hardvard with a GED, but thats not most peoples expecdations of themselves (or needs) are either. |
