Default My town. (Re: your town )

Do you live in a big city , or a small one? What's your cities general view on marijuana?

Anyway , I'm kind of interested in hearing about where people live. I'll start off.

I live in a reaaaaaly small town in southern Ontario. Now, when you think of a small town ... you usually think of somewhere that's out in the middle of nowhere. That's not the case with my town, though. My lil' town has a small grocery store , a corner store (Good for munchies!) , a school, and pretty much everything else to be a self-sustaining town. On top of that , I'm about 10 minutes from a bigger town which has everything else that could be needed ( Movie-type place , a bar , LCBO , pizza joints, exc.. ) . Also , the overall population of my lil' town is a bit over 500 , and we're on a lake, which means that quadrouples during the 'tourist season'.

Ok, there's background info. Now, here's the cool thing.

This's a town of stoners. I'm not kidding. 90% of the people here smoke MJ , and everything works fine. The funny thing is, though , it's all almost hidden. Most of my friends (As well as my) parents smoke MJ, but it's hidden ( Not common knowledge , I suppose) . So , I'm in a self-sustaining city with a lot of pot. What else? Everyone is stoner-friendly. If you walk into bar, for instance , and sit up at the counter just talking with someone ... If the bartender realizes you're stoned , I'd say about 25% of the time they bring you a bowl of munchies.

Well ... This isn't a load of B.S , either . If you're ever in the Southern Ontario area , head down to Lake Simcoe , or give me a PM on here .

So, anyway ... What's your town/city like?

Default mine is a biggie!

My city is relatively new, only 68 years old, but its huge to its age, 600,000 . Its one of the most important cities in the south, its got everything you need, good college, good entertaiment, good food. The name is Londrina, it means Little London, the people that founded the city were british.

Here is the picture of the (part of it anyways) sky line, there are some pretty huge buildings here, the one i live has 15 floors. Most of them 15+ and the tallest has 26 i think.

Anyways this pic is looking towards the north side. What you see here is the edge of the buildings, you cant see a lot coz the ones that you see are on one side of this hill and most buildings are on the other side's slope(did this make sence). Uhm you cant see where i live in this pic but i got other that you can...i'll post them when i find'em

Oh look!

I was born and raised (and still live in) Edmonton, Alberta. The merto population is about 1 million+ and growing. People around here are pretty liberal towards pot. I've been caught numerous times at school, by the city police and by the RCMP in the suburbs. The administration at my school sucks. They suspended me for smelling like pot after lunch about a year ago in grade 11 and made me go to two AADAC meetings (drug abuse program run by the provincial governemt, PURE BS facts and information about weed).

The city police here are pretty cool. They caught me twice and the first time they let me keep my stash! (about 1.5 grams) but the second time the copper (mountain bike cop in the city ravines) smelt us blazin in the bush. He caught us red handed and took our weed (0.5 gram in baggy) he must've had no action the night before or something, he looked all up-tight and pissed. He kicked us out of the creek and told us to come back when we grew up. haha.

The RCMP here are real tight assed, imo. They're like American cops: they think weed is the all mighty evil and will stop at nothing to bust and punish you.

If things work out in the next few years Canadians can enjoy pot as a legal substance and won't need to fear the cops. The senate here is actually working with Canadians now and is holding special "forums" about marijuana and what this country should do about it's current legal status. I predict pot being legal within the next 5-10 years in Canada, or at least de-criminalized to a point were it's almost like under aged-drinking in Quebec.

Here is a pic of Edmonton's skyline during a sunrise. http://www.stoncel.com/users/aarendt...ne.morning.jpg

I kinda of a nerd for cities and population stuff. TO's city proper population is around 3 million. The city's ENTIRE metro population is somewhere around 7 million.

I live near mississauga, and it's pretty controlled. A lot of people do it, and as long as you don't do it in front of the police, you're usually fine.

As for the original post, around lake simcoe eh?

I'm usually around wasaga, barrie, orillia, or collingwood, so i guess they're all sorta in that area, lol

Columbus, OH. You're average big city, but a big city that is dying to be looked upon as a big city. We have two professional sports teams with stupid names, for example. We recently built Easton, which is a mall that resembles a small town. Easton was actually built by les wexner, the owner of the Limited, who also owns abercrombie, old navy, etc., so you can probably guess the kind of people that show up there. Easton is an evil place i tell you, EVIL! Beware the edifice of greed!

I digress, we have a downtown with skyscrapers and everything. we have lots of suburbs, i actually went to school in a suburban school district although my mailing address is columbus. Theres a downtown. The largest campus in the country is here (if i remember correctly, if not its pretty damn big).

While most of the suburbs are conservative, everything around campus is liberal. Its strange, it seems to get more and more conservative as you move out from the center of town. Columbus has two free weekly alternative papers. A thriving music scene. You can see any kind of music, everynight of the week, somewhere. High St is covered in head shops, bars, and music venues. But the liberal portion is still not big enough to swing a vote yet. It was possibly, there was a petition to get legalization on the ballot, and it didn't end up going through and there might have been some dishonesty on the part of the gov't as too why it didn't go through. I'm not really sure what happened to it, other than it did not get on the ballot.
