My sister and I want to plan a trip to Europe this summer...for like only 8 or 10 days. Anyways, we had wanted to stay in Amsterdam but we both know that our mom thinks Amsterdam is a dangerous place and there is no way she would knowingly let us go and stay there. So my sister and I decided that we can just stay in a country next to the Netherlands that is only a short train ride away. That way we can stay in possible Germany and take a train ride over to Amsterdam and perhaps stay a night or two there. Anyways, does anyone have any countries to suggest us going. Germany and Belgium seem to be the closest to the netherlands. Also does anyone know of any cities in say Germany that are more of a younger crowd or that have lots of fun things to do...just to ensure me and my sis have a good time. any advice is appreciated

Why not stay in the cities outside of Amsterdam, but still in the Netherlands? I have relatives there, and they say it's nice.

Try Leiden, Rotterdam, or Utrecht if i remeber right..

Anyways, most of Europe is pretty accessable, so you could probably train it in in a very short amount of time from anywhere around the Netherlands.

Spain, this is a killer country. They got lots of cool museums (it thats your bag) and a lot of cool art works. The thing about the old world is that most of the turist action is to go sight seeing instead of partying. So unless you like to go to museums and look at old churches you are going to the wrong continent. If you want to party come to south america , then again i've never been on that side of the atlantic ocean so what do i know?

tell your mom one thing then go stay in Amsterdam. That's what I would do.

no point going to amsterdam if you are under 18, that the minimum age to get in the coffee shops. My friend went there once and she said dudes would sell hash on the street corners very cheap, but shes a goody goody

Well a family friend of ours went to Rotterdam for several months...and my mom knows that he had a crazy time there so we figured we'd play it safe and choose something far enough away that she wouldn't associate it with amsterdam/rotterdam.

I actually like doing a bit of sightseeing and stuff...but I like to party too so my trip would be a mix of both. Yeah I know I just came back from Mexico...I kind of want to make good use of my last summer before I go to college. Hopefully this Europe trip will work out b/c my mom is having second thoughts about letting us go. Nothing has been set in stone, but me and my sister are pretty determined to go. If we do go, I don't have to worry about the 18 thing b/c...woohoo I am 18. I don't think I'd lie to my mom where we were staying b/c with our luck something would get screwed up and she'd find out. Plus Amsterdam isn't the only place we want to go...we just want to make sure we visit it.

Don't worry I PMed KWhite that would I could get the low down on Germany and stuff like that

I had a friend living in germany somewhere close to the boarder, I don't know the exact place but there were some universitys and colleges down there. He says it was a half hour car ride to get weed from the netherlands and they would just drive straight down pick it and drive back no problem.
