Hey, you guys, I have a question. What makes some people more attractive than others, and why does it differ from person-to-person?! For instance, I was at a music festival today, and there was a few really good-looking blondes...tall, slender, busty....but I noticed that the guy in the band was TOTALLY enraptured by this rather plain-looking brunette, although everyone could tell these blonde girls wanted him. Anyhow, I got to thinking...what is it that attracts some people, but not others?!
A while back, I was watching this special where they were trying to define beauty, and they said that there were a few traits that were universal, evident in every culture...a symmetrical face, large eyes and lips, and (most of the time) blonde hair. They said that the blonde hair was associated with beauty because it adds a radiant quality, and captures light better than dark hair....Basically, it adds an aura of light which surrounds the face, thus attracting the male. They also did studies with babies in which they showed them two women's faces, and found that they responded more to the symmetrical face and blonde hair that the plain-looking dark-haired face.
Naturally, you'd think the perfect blonde would be sought after, but notice a lot of men prefer plain-looking brunettes instead. So, is it the actual physical features that people are attracted to, or the vibe that emanates from a person?! I have seen some absolutely gorgeous, sweet women get overlooked when the man goes for the plainer look. In this case, I'm assuming it's the energy of the person which the other person finds attractive, rather than the way they look. Any comments would be appreciated.

Also, I find myself attracted to many different looks....and the "typical blonde" isn't first on my list....not that there's anything wrong with blondes in my eyes.....

I don't think you can really get an answer on this.

Everyone has different tastes, and people like different things. Someone might find someone very attractive, while someone else may not.

There are some constants, but even these get broken, so there's really no rules anymore.
Generally, it is the things which said. Slim, Blonde, etc.. but this is just the average. Since it's an average, technically most people should be attracted to these females, but because we're all so different, perhaps they might find a brunette, or a red hair, or an asian more attractive.

Personally, i'm pretty open. I try not to judge women, or anyone for that matter, until i know them better. Sometimes you become attracted to people you never thought you would just because you realize who they really are.

But i'm not going to lie, there are women i'm attracted to and others im not. What constintutes the ones i am i can't really say, as i dont really know.

ok...here I go again..

anyway ....I find myself attracted physically to many different types...Men with short hair, men with long hair, men with shaved heads....blondes, brunettes, men with grey hair (no not geriatric men *LOL*)....full lips, regular lips.....exceptional builds, slim builds, slightly heavy builds...etc etc etc...
but that's just initial attraction....what really pulls me to someone though is personality. I LOVE a man with a overwhelming sense of humor....someone that can keep up with me in that dept is always a turnon to some degree. A man that is open minded...that doesn't quickly pass judgement....someone that likes to have a good time but knows where to draw the line between having fun and being a loser *L*....a responsible man.....a man that respects me and respects himself...also a good communicator...that's extremely important..
Basically there are alot of different looks that attract me but only men with what I find to be good personalities KEEP me attracted.

To me this is so complex that i cant put my head around it, its like asking how come some food is tasty for someone and disgusting to other? I know a person that eats like a bucket of raisens a week but i cant even smell them gross buggers that i get a little queesy
Same thing about what attracts you to the person? eyes,legs,butts,face,muscles?? Or why do some people have foot fetish?

I'll answer this but it may be inappropriate for this site so I'll try to keep it clean, and please don't judge just me by this as I know plenty of people with the same opinions and in many cases they have been proven to be true. This is also kind of based on a theory I've learned in sociology, which I think applies to this. When a guy sees a hot looking blonde walking down the street he'll automatically think he wants to nail that. another time he may see an innocent looking yet attractive brunette conservatively dressed, he may think the same thing but he may want to actually get to know her. This is sort of based on the mother/whore principal, would you want the mother of your children to be your hot sexy blonde whore, or a nurturing level headed brunette. It may be stereotypical of me to say this about blondes, but a lot of blondes have that fun sort of image. even those that dye their hair blonde, but in no way am i saying that blondes are all sluts or anything, there are many level headed blondes out there and just as many brunettes that should have been blonde. Looks are just part of the equation unless your looking for a one nighter.

I'll continue Giggles posts because i think sorta like that. Men like the hot blond cause we think (yes we) "uhhmmm what a piece of ass i would like to get my hands on!"(im not sexist but males think like that when it more of sexual/primative way). You automaticaly think that the blond is good to have fun and screw around, this depends also in the place i am, what the chick is wearing, walking, looking, am i stoned or not. But with the brunnet you think, thats a woman i would like to know better, this is cause your fatherly genes are saying "hey dude check that girl out, if you have babies they would be fuggin smart and also good looking" But with the blond the are no genes just your willy . We go after what attracts us because we think that if you mix your genes with the chicks gene, you might have a healthy baby.

That is my POINT. I'm looking for different opinions on this. As most of the guys I know are attracted to blondes, there are those guys that prefer brunettes, and I'd like to hear what it is they find attractive about brunettes.

More often than not, I am attracted to dark-haired guys. To me, there is a certain mystique and darkness about a guy with really black hair and brown eyes. There is a certain physical presence about them that blondes seem to lack....a complexity and darkness. On the other hand, the blondes that I HAVE found
attractive I must say are the most beautiful men I have seen. I guess it's almost an angelic type of beauty, if that makes sense.

Anyhow, I personally prefer dark-haired men over blondes. Usually, blondes are a lot more fun and carefree, but dark-haired men just seem more mysterious.

I totally agree with everything you're saying, but then I think what attracted these men to the blondes in the first place, that such a stereotype would be formed. This stereotype has been formed over time because, at some point, men preferred to experience one-night stands with blondes rather than brunettes, and I wonder why?! Is it something instilled within us...spiritual, perhaps?! Angelic beings, the most beautiful beings in mythology, are "beings of light," and it has been proven that the presence of light can up one's mood.
This stereotype didn't just happen....It was formed due to decades of men wanting to sleep with blondes, and I wonder what the attraction was then. Surely blondes were getting a lot more sex than brunettes, but was this because they were "easy" back then, or because men were attracted more to the blonde hair?! I think it's the latter.
