Hi, I am a junior in college and my friends and I are trying to decide if we want to go to mexico or amsterdam for spring break this year. My boss goes to amerstdam every other year (he just turned 59!) and he said I can go there and stay in the youth hostels for 12-15/night, and I checked out airfair which is 200 less than going to mexico! What I want to know, is it a big party place? I've already been to Cozumell Mexico and didn't think that much of it, but that was with my fam. Which place do you think i'd enjoy more? Does anyone know if they are really strick about pot in mexico? So many questions.

dude, the last place you'd want to end up is in a federali prison. it's so shady down there i'd just avoid it altogether... go to holland: the girls are prettier, weed is better, lots of windmills and flowers and wooden shoes (i've just seen movies...). anyway, my vote's for a-dam

If I had the choice of going to Mexico or Amsterdam... I would definately pick Amsterdam... but that's just me.

If you like to party and get plastered, then maybe you should try Cancun Mexico. It is absolutely crazy during spring break. The cops could care less about marijuana... what they care about is money (from what I understand). If they bust you with pot.. they aren't worried about your safety or the current drug laws... they are thinking "this American boy has lots of money" - in other words... if you get arrested in Mexico.. you have the option of paying your bail right then and there...

So...if you like.. partying.. clubbing.. half naked women.. more alcohol than water.... cancun mexico.

Um... never been to Amsterdam so I can't say anything about that

My boss told me Amsterdam isn't a big party place, it's more of a mellow atmosphere. He did however tell me the names and directions to his favorite "smoke shops". He then told me when they say smoke shops they mean weed, not cigarrets, like i couldn't figure that one out. He said the Herb is cheap, but the beer is expensive, which would make up for the airfare and hotel. I'm not really into any other "drug", but my friends are, does anyone else know if the other drugs are legal too? Someone told me you can just order gell-tabs in clubs, don't know if that's true or not and I don't want to reviel too much info to my boss, if you know what i mean.

My best friend has been to Mexico several times, even for Spring Break. He also just got back from amsterdam about 3 months ago. It is not a wild crazy place, but you do have a good chance of getting laid and you can smoke weed freely there. They have it in coffee shops and bars like it's nothin. If i had the choice, I would go to Amsterdam.

I get two weeks vacation next year. I am taking one week to go to Panama to see my son and then one week in Amsterdam next summer.

Amsterdam can be anything you want it to be. For the big party scene you need to check out the Melkweg. Bands, clubs, pot. Mexico is great for crappy beer, sun, and skin. The European men often seem to reveal way to much skin for my taste (as well as some of the fat women). I had a good time in Cazumel over Thanksgiving, but nothing has ever come close to New Years 2001 in Amsterdam. Probably the worlds safest city. My girlfriend and I were in the Red Light District at 2:00am New Years Day and it was shoulder to shoulder people just hanging out and getting high. The beer is a little pricey, but it is great beer and the bartenders treat your beer like gold. It is a big production to pour beer out of a tap in Amsterdam. Plus some great museums and history. Try and catch an opera at the Concertgebouw while you are high. I am not much of an opera guy but I do love music. The acoustics in the building are close to the best anywhere. I blazed before a production of Johnny Schicci and some of the notes the singers hit sent chills up and down my spine. Get some culture and have a blast. Go to Amsterdam. Holland also owns an island in the tropics somewhere and I am wondering if the laws are the same. Anyone know?

It's not so much the laws, it's the tolerance. It's still against the law to smoke, and have MJ, but in the 70's the government told the police to ignore it. I didn't know about the island. My friend and I are going to Mexico for Spring Break, but we are taking a trip to Amsterdam beforehand. I want to go durring the Canabas Cup, but my friend can't go over Thanksgiving, which is when it is.
