| I had heard of people bashing hippies, but I figured that had all but died out. Now i have been at college for a semester and my hair is longer and i now sport a nice hemp neclace, but I am the same person. I get home and my parents are against me because I am a "hippie" I told them I dont label it and I seak my spirit with my heart, not by what the beaten trail tells me. I enjoy long hair, I think it looks pretty good on me, and I like hemp neclaces because the natural fiber looks good and feels good to the skin. I still hold my same political views which has always flown in the face of my cathlic republican parents, but have never pushed my views as passionatley as they do. I cannot contemplate why people seak to label a person into a group and seperate that group from themselves. Labels are the first step to prejudice. I try and search my soal often to make sure I do not do likewise and act in a logical manner. I try and free my self from the desires which turn into modivation. My life is to secretly help others and just spread the love. Karma, or whatever you want to call it will keep everything in balance. THe world responds to the way you attack it. I attack it with an olive branch and peace and love is my reward. If I lay a dime down on the ground, that dime will find its way back to me in the form of a beautiful sunset, an insightful thought, a spot of good luck. If my main montra is general love focused on the unfocused, perhaps befitting of the label hippie, how can my parents judge my life choices soley based on how I look? We are all silent victims of prejudice. I'm at aloss.

| The ones around here are pussies mostly. My friend is fairly large but the "freaks and hippies" he hang out with are pretty pinner, and yet the rednecks wont do anything to them unless its 10-1 for the hick side. |

| People label what they are afraid of in the attempt to "know it" by categorizing it. The term is gnosology. Cut your parents some slack...they were afraid of what college would "DO" to you and their "FEARS" have come true... We know their fears are unfounded...eventually...like when you graduate with good grades...they will chill out too... Growing up...it's not just for kids anymore.. ![]() ...have a cookie and tell your parents you love them ![]() | |
