I dunno about you guys but id rather the shark just eat me and get it over with then "get chewed to hell." Another reason I don't down to the beach often: Our condo/apartment/whateveryouwannacallit has a nice pool and jacuzzi thats closer then the beach, with as you may have guessed, no sharks.

i live in florida and i surf all the time.

never been bit by a shark either.

i'm not scared to go out but it has gotten way scarier recently. like over the summer i didn't even see a shark. now that winters coming and the sharks from up north are cruising down here i see like 3-4 a day when i'm surfing. i even have a pic of my charging a line with a shark in teh background.

Surfer Has Close Encounter With Shark

(Lihu'e, Kaua'i) --A shark attacked a surfer along Kauai's north shore. The incident happened around 7:45 Tuesday morning at Kalihiwai Beach. The surfer, 51 year old Bruch Orth, caught a few waves before the unexpected attack.

"Sitting on my board, waiting for the next set and out of nowhere a shark comes up and from a couple of feet and he came so fast and he lunged to the front of the board and just chomped on the rail. I gave him a couple of whacks on the nose and once I got him off my board he basically dove back under and we waited from him to come up again. I yelled at my buddies 'shark, shark.' We never saw him again. We basically paddled in pretty quickly."

I think you should go surfing Herb for the shear fact that if there are only 4 attacks a year compared to the amount of surfers and swimmers and divers in the water .

Your chances of getting eaten by a shark are worse than you getting killed in a plain crash or a car wreck , or walking down the street after a few nice Hawaiian bong rips .

Ohk so I went for a swim and just got back from the E.R. lost my hand to a shark.
