First of all, don't build this into such a big issue. If you casually ask her, in a calm and mild tone, if she smokes weed then she'll most likely give you a striaghtfoward and honest answer back. If she gives an irrational response, such as running the opposite way while screaming "DARE taught me about that devil plant!", chances are there probably wasn't that much romantic potential anyway.

Also, keep in mind that if she's as cool as you perceive her to be, then she'll probably be open to weed even if she doesn't smoke. If she narcs you out to her mom first thing (very unlikely, btw), then would you really want her as your wingman?

Furthermore, all these hinting around ideas sound stupid. Ask her directly or don't ask at all. Plus, she listens to Grateful Dead. Come the fck on.

I agree with Stewpad. I think if you just plainly ask her, there's not many worse things that can happen then her saying "No, I don't." I don't think she's gonna slap you in the face or anything. She sounds cool. I'm gonna come and steal her from you.

Then see her reaction and go from there: "Yeah that was only when I was over there..." or "Yeah the stuff I have now is way better"

Here's a few ideas.


If you don't mind being duplicitous:
Tell her you want to try smoking pot, and ask her if she has any advice or experience for you.

If you have a friend you trust:
get him or her to bring up the topic in a conversation, then guage her reaction.

Invite her to a party where you know pot smoking will occur and say some people might be smoking pot, are you okay with that? (this leaves ambiguous your own attitude toward pot and also makes you sound like a man looking out for her well-being (which you probably are))

I had a bad experience trying the ask-her-straight-out approach. But the situation wasn't quite like yours, except that it is important that I girl I go out with be at least a casual toker.

Good luck, whatever route you take. Oh hey, speaking of routes, you might speak of Australia to her and casually mention the outlawish town of nimbin (I'm probably not spelling it correctly), which apparently is a famously potfriendly place in australia complete with harvest festivals.

If you value the job, keep the fact that you smoke a secret to your boss' family......... You never know what could potentially (mybe not likely) get out.

If you dont care about the job bring it up subtly and just use some of the slang as suggested before. If she picks up on it then slowly be more blunt about it.
