Okay, so I've had a job working in the warehouse of this company for about 6 months now, and this past summer I had the pleasure of working with easily the coolest girl I've ever met. She's nothing like the MTV-bred conformist types that I usually deal with and really came as a breath of fresh air to me. She only worked for the summer, though, and since then she has been really busy so I haven't been able to go out with her. But recently at a company halloween party, I saw her again, got her number, and she agreed to go out with me this weekend. The only thing is, as I mentioned in the title, she is the owner's step-daughter.

Well, I really want to find out if this girl smokes, but I can't outright ask her since she is so close to my boss, and I have no clue how my boss would react to finding out I do. However, I have a very good inclination that she might at least be willing to try, since we have almost the exact same taste in music, which is characteristic of stoners. She's a huge fan of Led Zeppelin and Nirvana, along with most classic rock and early 90's grunge stuff. I don't even know where I want to take her, but if you have any suggestions maybe that might make it easier to pop the MJ question, then help me out. Like I said, she is really cool and nonconformist, but I don't want to risk my job by being too forward about an illegal substance. I just want to be cautious about how I approach the situation, because like I said, I really like the girl and the job, so I feel pressure not to f*ck it up on both ends.

Anyone got some ideas/suggestions?

If your friend is already dead, and being eaten by vultures, I think it's okay to feed some bits of your friend to one of the vultures, to teach him to do some tricks. But only if you're serious about adopting the vulture.

I'm not sure what your city looks like, but if there is a downtown area with a headshop, just make sure you walk by the headshop with her. Say something about it, and see how she responds.

You could also subtly steer the conversation towards weed, although this could potentially lead to her inferring that you're a stoner.

Or just talk like a stoner. Tell her to stop bogarting stuff, call cool stuff dank...

The last thing you can do is get some loose tobacco and rolling papers, and roll some cigarettes to smoke on the date. Remember to smoke them joint style. If she says something negative, say it's cheaper than buying packs. If she says something postive, tell her they're good practise

That's a huge stereotype.......i know lots of people on these forums like that kind of music but it would make me extremely mad if anyone even remotely ascociated me with that music.

Hey, look, there goes the point!

Anyways, she kinda lives a long drive away and I don't know if she would look kindly upon me smoking tobacco. I think I might throw those stoner-slang words out there, though, cause even if she doesn't smoke, it wouldn't hurt. But if she did smoke, she'd catch on right away and I'd be home free. Thanks WNB.

Anyone else got some ideas/suggestions?

i think that the idea of using the stoner-slang is failproof. i mean, if she dosent understand what you are talking about and tells you she dosent know what the hell you are saying then you will be able to tell she dosent smoke. and if she does understand what you are saying, best case scenario will be that SHE confronts you about pot and asks if you smoke, and then you can just ask her if she does before you answer. so no matter what happens, if you play the cards right, i dont think anything bad will happen.

I dont see why the issue of pot is such a huge deal in this relationship. Just get to know her more, and go out with her like you would anyone else, you dont have to bring up weed, if it comes up then fine, if it doesnt than who cares?

Apparently I care. I just don't want to miss out on a whole new dimension that could be added to a relationship if she does smoke. I didn't mention this earlier, but next semester she's suppoed to go to Australia on student exchange, so I want to make the best of the time I have until then.

Here is a sure-fire way. Since she listens to Nirvana like you said, and maybe other rockstars who are all heroin junkies (STP)...you could talk about music right? Then be like "damn shame they are all jacked up on heroin (maybe insert slang term for to sound cool, try "Boye!"lol ) "why couldn't they just be happy, pacified weed smokin musicians?"

-OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES- but you get my point

then let the conversation progress from there, you should be able to pick up whether or not she hitz the bong also. If you're pretty sure she doesn't with where the conversation is going....then.....you should maybe back off so you won't seem like the pothead trying to get something out of her

Any suggestions as to a particular artist to mention? Kurt Cobain is okay, but there's still some controversy over his death. I know she likes the Grateful Dead, so that'll probably be a good conversation starter. Maybe Janis Jappolin, or was that alcohol? I dunno, I'm just getting kinda anxious about it, because I'd really hate to blow it with this girl since she's so cool.
