| Hi, I've almost made up my mind that I'm going to cali...there are a few others things i need to check but basically the coast is clear. I was wondering what would be a really good place to live in cali... but first let me describe myself and what i'm looking for, maybe you can recommend a place that fits? I'm 22, and still have 2 more years to finish my major in molecular and cellular biology. I'm interested in alternative, and integrative medicine. I'm smart, and have a good gpa to get me into basically any college in california. I currently use marijuana in capsule form to treat some of my anxiety and depression problems, and if at all possible I would like to go somewhere in cali where I might be able to get a license to grow or to buy. I want somewhere laid back, but still nice...(i grew up fairly wealthy and like some nice things)... On the coast would be nice. One of the most important things though, is after I get residency, I want to finish my degree at a really good state school, like the UC's... So, with all of these things, would anyone recommend a certain area? Some of the things I was thinking so far: Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara (grandma lives there), and San Diego. THanks in advance. -soar

| San Diego most definately, unless you want to party alot, then go to santa barbara. out of all the places in cali i've been to, SD county has the nicest and most laid back people. and the best weather ![]()

| My brother moved out to San Diego last year, I visited him and I now plan to go out there after college. The weather is awesome, girls look good, great area all around. That would be my choice.

| im a cali native, been here awhile, lived all over. san diego isnt all its cracked up to be, but its still cool. most of the chicks are incredibly shallow and materialistic, the guys are mostly moron types straight out of the "man-show"...most go by the "my-toy-is-better/more-expensive-than-yours" motto.. you really have to look around for quality people, but it can be done. i mean, i still live here - i found a good one...and i like the weather.but for a more laid-back political climate in regards to medical MJ and in general, i suggest santa cruz out of the options you gave. if i had my druthers id move to san fran...but i cant afford it.

| That's pretty much everywhere tho, TylerDurden. Santa Barbara, O.C., San D, all have their fair share of shallow people. NorCal seems a little more down to earth, but I wouldn't know since I never lived there. I personally would like to move OUT of So-Cal, since the shallowness and cost of living is starting to get on my nerves. |

| i went up to the monterey area in north cali a year ago, everything is so expensive there compared to down here in SD, i went to a fast food place and they wanted to charge me 10 cents for each additional ketchup packet. my sister lives in san jose and she tells me the cost of housing is alot more up there. and the weather is worse. and shallow materialistic people are everywhere out here in cali, but it is alot worse in LA and O.C. |
