I was just recently busted by my parents. My mom talked to my brother, because I asked him for 40 bucks, which I didn't actually take, so she got all suspicious and subsequently searched my room.

She ended up finding a glass testtube/vial that I had used once or twice for vaporizing. She ended up confronting me with it, and I told her that I did smoke every once in a while. She used to smoke, and she has concerns, and I understand her concerns(our family has a history with drugs, and she has had many friends who have died/gone through ordeals). I ended up telling them why I liked to smoke(very understanding parents), and that I would probably continue, but that I understood their concerns and fears. BTW, I'm 16.

My dad essentially put it this way:

You can accede to our demands and stop, or you can make your own decisions(which you have no right to do). If you stop, then we will be happy, if you don't then there will be consequences. We all concluded that grounding me or prohibiting me from going to parties will distance me more from them and create hostility, so we tried to maintain an open dialogue.

I love smoking weed and the feelings and thoughts it gives me, and its doesn't control my life, and I have no desire to try any other off-topics, but I don't want to give it up. I know I should respect my parents wishes, but its a facet of my life that I enjoy and would like to continue to enjoy.

Please give your opinions of what I should do in this situation, and a small rationale behind it.

Make sure that your parents know that you understand and respect their opinions, but you know it isnt detrimental to your life. Explain to them y u do it, give them insight. Try to tell them like you would a friend, goodluck. also THANK YOUR PARENTS FOR BEING UNDERSTANDING! TELL THEM HOW AWESOME IT IS THAT YOUR OPINION MATTERS! as long as you can maintain the same relationship with ur parents as it was before u started smoking, it should be ok. and remember, your a lucky sob!

man i feel yeah...im basically in the same position as u rite now..my mom just caught me and shes really anti-weed. however she seems to treat stuff like this morn immaturely then ur parents. she blows it way touta porpotoion and yells. i also use weed responsibly and use it for the more spirtual or inhancement of events puposes. what im doing is just continuing to smoke..just more discreetly then b4..just b careful and its fine. good luck bro

It sucks that your parents won't be more open minded than that but while you are still in their house you are still under their rules. Some parents just don't need to know. Pretend that you stopped, never leave out evidence and don't do it in their house. Just watch your back with it and you'll be fine til you get a place without them.

she's being very open minded. my mom made me quit, grounded me, yelled at me, wouldnt listen to me, and almost put me in a treatment center, after only catching me 1 time.

Neither of them yelled at me, and I explained quite clearly my views and why I smoke. We'll see what unfolds, but I appreciate the input, keep it coming

Keep on a blazin my friend,i would.If they ground you, sneak out.Just be like,hey you guys smoked weed and you turned out alright,along with god knows how many others.Remember,even the prez has done drugs.Maybe thats not a good example,but you get the idea.
