Ok, I live in the USA, and I was just wondering how hard it would be to move to Amsterdam.

Some info I am looking for is how hard it is to move your citizenship or whatever, how hard it is to find a job, and how expensive average housing is. If anyone knows where I can find this out at, or even knows the answers, I would greatly appreciate it!

Why is that? I have been to Canada, and I love it. I know that MJ laws are laxed, but it still isn't legal.

Move to British Columbia, I'm sure you will find that weed is almost as tolerated there as Amsterdam. You get nice weather, very very cheap weed, extremely lax pot laws (you'd have to try to be arrested), probably cheap rents, mountains, and beauty. That's where I want to go.

I dont mean to thread jack, but if anyone here is from BC, van city to be exact, could you pm me some info about it? Ie, housing, jobs and such. Im looking to move out within the next few months and Vancouver is near the top of my list...right behind the caribbean

Hey there, just been to Amsterdam (and got the most kickass hash my money could currently buy ); but apart from the lenient Marijuana laws here in Holland, I don't see why you would want to move here. This country isn't all that great, the politics here royally suck ass, it's always sucky weather, plus you'd probably break your tongue trying to learn dutch (want het is zeker geen makkelijke taal. Allemaal vage grammaticale regels en meer van die onzin...maar als je een beetje goed bent in Duits dan gaat Nederlands je vaak wel wat beter af. :P).

And besides to that, getting into Holland isn't all that easy; and you surely don't want to move to Amsterdam, housing prices are bloody insane there. You'd be better off somewhere in north-holland, in the flatlands or somewhere around there. Groningen would be a nice choice, filled with 60.000 almost permanently blazed students (and teachers of course ).

Sure, weed laws there are very loose, but take into consideration all the other ****.

it'd be kinda messed up if you moved to holland/amsterdam because the weed stuff is good.... but didn't think long and hard about the daily life stuff.

i'm not saying you'd do that haha, it's just a stoned thought right now.

clogs thats cool u live there. but you gotta understand the culture in america..it sucks. I hate america as an english or french guy hates america. so we think of amsterdam and holland and go crazy.

i go to europe alot (like 7 or 8 times) with friends cause i dont like america. and well weed is alot more tolerated all around it seems. but my trip in amsterdam i didnt smoke at the time and had has brownies.. my god. yea i'll leave it at that, just my god. and the weather aint crap the whole north east has the same BS, people are everything. and were potheads, polotics, although important arent that high on the bonus list.

i guess thats as close as i can get with english units but i had fun learning that when i was 5. (god damn isreali god parents).. oh and ****ing russian. learning russian was a *****, i laugh at the deutch now that ive got russian down.

if youre thinking about moving to Vancouver..DONT! Unless youve got lots of cash that is. Move to somewhere thats just outside of Vancouver like Surrey, Burnaby, Cogquitlam, Langley, etc. Rent is expensive in vancouver from what everyone is saying and you can probably get a way bigger place just outside vancouver for the same price. Plus theres transit (buses, sky train) that will get you downtown vancouver just fine.

Back on topic though...
I could be wrong on this, but would the job youre looking for have anything to do with how hard it is to get a job there..or are you just looking for work in general>
