So the Big Wu came to town last night at a local bar and I thought I'd go check it out. After downing my fair share of off topic beverages me and my friends headed down to the bar to see the show. It was a good show and I saw many friends down there. After it was over I apparently decided to walk home. About ten minutes later I was stopped and arrested. I guess the cops thought I had done something illegal, not really sure what. They kept referring to this "tape" they were checking. So they cuffed me and threw me in the back of the car. Anyway I had a film canister in my pocket with a little bit of bud in it which they found. Turns out I wasn't on the video and they dropped me off at my house. Luckily they didn't give me a ticket for possession which is great.

Ive notice that cops like to stop people that are walking down the street at night. I was walking home one night comin down off some mids, smoked maybe 1 hour ago before that. So I'm walkin down the road and the cop drives up, stops me, askins me if I got anything on me.. yada yda. I didnt have anything so he told me to get home before curfew, Ive also had friends stoped for walking for no reason.

Yeah I was VERY lucky. I could have easily been cited for possession or even possibly taken to detox.

Is that legal? Can a cop just stop you on the street for no reason? If not, I mean I know he said he had you on tape for something, but another poster on here said he just stopped him for no reason. I don't think cops are allowed to do that.

unfortunately, cops can do that and wait for you to do something illegal and then arrest you.

i think the reason the cop, in this case, let him go with no possession charge is because he was arrested illegally and the 4th ammendment guarantees no illegal search and seizure so the weed would be void evidence in a case because it was found after the arrest.

You need to brush up on your legal terminology. At no point was this guy arrested. he was detained, but never arrested. Simply being in police custody doesn't mean you are arrested. Your post makes no sense, because you assume he was indeed arested, when in fact he was simply stopped for questioning. Cops don't just arrest people, then "unarrest" them, as you suggest here, and drop them off at home. Our legal system doesn't work that way. basically, he was intoxicated, and the cops thought they should check him out. If they really wanted to be dicks, they could have charged him with public intoxication, justifying the search where the weed was found. they didn't.....he was never arrested.

Which members where at the show? Hopefully all (other than ODB RIP). Man i wish teh wu wud come here. Damn. wu is so tight. that must have been a great show. after hittin a blunt the other day "do u hear the bells" by rza came on. Wow is that ever a solid 9 minute freestyle.

Oh yeah i got busted in my car gettin high the other day. Cops called my mom and told me to drive straight home, but wudnt let my passenger go with me because it was endangering her life god i love canada

alright what if there is like a robbery or some other crime near by and your walking home late at night. A cop stops you because he thinks you did the crime, he asks you if you have anything illegal on you, you say no. He seaches you and find some herb, than he arrests you for possesion of a controlled substance. Can he do that? Can you object to the search? Can you get into more trouble for lieing to him? (telling him that you have nothing illegal on you?) Whats the best thing to do in this situation, coropurate, or argue with him and tell him that you didn't commit the crime that he is looking for. Thanks. Late.
