| So, first week back from college my friend and I who hadn’t seen each other in a couple of months decided to get together and smoke a little for old time's sake. We went to this little neighborhood that used to live in and went to a parking lot in the back of the clubhouse. This was stupid idea number one. Granted, we had done this before, but this night felt a little bit different. More “sketchy” if you will. We saw a pickup truck there that we had not seen before, so we walked around to make sure nobody was in it. It was clear, so we got back in my car. I asked my friend, “so should we spark here?”. He was also little bit sketched out but decided to go for it anyway. This was stupid idea number two. We got out Billy Bob Thornton (our bubbler)…”half baked” reference… and began to chill and reminisce about old times. At this point I noticed in my side mirror that there was somebody walking around behind my car. My heart rate quadrupled instantly. “Dre, I think that somebody back there!” I said. Dre turned around, then turned back to me and with a terrified look on his face said “Dude there’s a ****ing cruiser back there. Don’t move.” Now, granted this was not the brightest remark - but keep in mind we were baked, and my car was hot boxed. Suddenly a beam of light, and I mean literally BEAM came through our window - at which point Dre remarked to me “dude, we’re done”. Two cops approached our car; one from each side. With his flashlight, cop number one knocked on the passenger window. I rolled down the window as smoke poured out onto the cop. They had us get out of the car and then frisked us. Now, I have allergies therefore I usually carry a Kleenex in my right pocket. The cop asked me to remove everything out of my pockets and I did, except for that Kleenex. This was stupid idea number three. See, I figured the cop did not want the dirty Kleenex on his car. Now, as I was being frisked, the cop felt the Kleenex in my pocket and asked “what’s this?” in the stern voice. I replied, “that’s just a Kleenex officer” and proceeded to take it out of my pocket to show the cop. To my surprise, this was not a Kleenex, this was a bag of weed. Try explaining that to a cop, while high. Billy bob Thornton was also discovered and confiscated along with a little less than an eighth. We were handcuffed, and brought back to the station, for booking. We were charged for possession, and let go. This was our first offense (and our last, believe me) so we got off on a couple months of pretrial probation and a helluva lot of fees. Massachusetts. All things considered, we were lucky. But we’re also stupid. I hope this story saves somebody a lot of time and a lot of money. |

| I hope you'll post the end result of your trial and everything. I live in Massachusetts, and I can definitely think of places that I've smoked that I can imagine this happening. Do you think that it's going to affect you at all in your life, or is it just something that sucks for a while and then you move on? |

My probation was actually over September 6th. I can no longer be “randomly screened”, even though I never actually was. The biggest pain of all this was the not knowing, and of course all the money spent on defense, court fees, etc… which comes out of my pocket. To my knowledge, this kind of deal is only good for first time offenders. Try not to **** up like I did. Although the price paid was relatively small, (with all things considered) it was NOT worth it. I still smoke, but I am much more careful now, and I no longer dismiss my cautiousness as mere paranoia. One can never be too careful. | |

| Yeah, actually it was the owner of that same pickup truck that called in in a "suspicious vehicle". |
