| When i was arrested a few years ago for dui the cops didn't read me my rights until we were at the station and they were typing up their statement. I wasn't placed in a holding cell or interrogated. I also like how these cops tell people that the source won't find out who ratted them out, they do this by saying they will leave your name out of the paper. The fact is when your arrested it's still public information wheather it's in the paper or not. If your source found out you were arrested and knew it was never in the paper, first thing anyone with common sense would think is, well this persons name was left out of the paper, "they were probably the one who set me up." All they would have to do is go to the police station and ask to see the records, it's public information and they have to let you see it, all they have to do is find the name of the customer who they think set them up, see their name, then take it and have it put into the paper. It makes the cops look bad when they make a deal with the person to leave their name out of the papers, they get what they want, and then the persons name goes into the paper anyway. I know someone who did that to a person who set him up to fix their ass. Depending on the person, they might not even bother to do that for payback and just go and beat the sh*t out of you instead. It's pretty cool that they never found the half ounce and even gave you your rolling papers back. |

| Don't know where you're from, but here the police reports the police give the paper are the only arrests printed. they don't take "random submissions" from drug dealers and print them as the truth. Most people i know would skip that part anyway....you narc, you suffer the consequences (not referring to having your name printed in the paper, either). Also, I know quite a bit about how the police operate. Confidential informents are gold to the police force. They can freely acquire info any unformed cop would never get. Most police forces do take pains to protect the identity of these people, far more than simply "keeping their names out of the paper". In many cases, the person is never arrested to begin with (or all records of the arrest are sealed in order to protect the witness against the very things you posted), thereby eliminating any public record. Thats just the most basic step involved. If the person has information of great value, their ID will be buried right up until they are needed to testify in court, which certainly doesn't happen all the time, either. In most cases, the cops do everything they possibly can to avoid having their informents ever having to testify, both for their own protection, and because they may be of use later--once a snitch, always a snitch) I'm not saying this happens everywhere, all of the time. But, its the way most jurisdictions handle CI's who provide information of real value. The steps taken to conceal your identity are in drect proprtion to the value of your info. If your REALLY important, we're taking witness protection program. I'm not advcating narcing, and there ARE ways to find out when someone does it, but more often than not, the narc seals his own grave by either being completely obvious, or being dumb enough to tell a "trusted friend" what he or she has done.

| i was under the impression that police must have permission or substantial reason to search the private property of an individual. wouldnt that fall under our right to privacy? sitting in a parked car behind your place of employment doesnt seem like much of a reason to me and unless you gave him permission, which i highly (no pun intended) doubt then he was in the wrong. dont quote me on this though. ive only been arrested once and i know he searched the car but i was pretty ****ty so i couldnt tell you if i gave him permission or a reason...probly a reason. |
