Haha that reminds me of when i worked in LA.

I worked at a shop on Jefferson & Budlong.

One day there was these guys across the street fighting and they were on and off all day. So its nearing 6pm and i see this dude walking down the street with a freakin samuri sword! He was going to kill that fool! So all the suddon there was helicopters and cops and crap, they closed down the block till 11pm that night....it suuuuucked.

no, there's no LA accent. i'm sure there's a lot of terms...i have no clue where to start since i've lived in CA my whole life and i dont really know anything but CA speak.

I lived several years in Northern Cali.. and moved to LA to go to UCLA...I can honestly tell you that northern Cali is way better than LA. Forget all that you heard about all the girls and the weed.... everyone in LA is fake.. nothing here is real; its a city of masks. That is not to say that there aren't cool people here... but the cool ones are living in a fabricated society, while in SF.. things just seem more grounded. Everyone is either an actor or trying to impress someone. San Francisco is cooler.. and the people and connections you make are just better. IT is prettier, and cleaner, and yes.. it is colder... but only in the summertime! You will see what I mean about the differences the first time you ever go to a night club.. or any nightlife. IF you do come to LA... I suggest Venice beach... or Malibu. OH.. and yes.. Skid Row is very sad.. not a rough area though.. just a lot of homeless people. The gangs pretty much hang out in East LA area Hollenbeck and 77th areas of LA are probably the worst.. and in Southeast you have the projects which are a gang magnet. The thing about the gangs though.. they will leave you alone for the most part if you stay out of their way. The people who posted that there are some good parts.. yes that is true.. but LA is just different than any other big city. I always thought that San Fran had a much bigger big city feel to it than LA. LA is like a bunch of small towns put together. The traffic sucks worst of all. U really do feel like an ant here. I have been in LA area for 8 yrears.. and it is my goal to one day get out....

I would defenitely go to San Fransisco, it's much better than L.A.
But that's just me. I am in love with San Fransisco.
I think L.A. is too smoggy and you must be careful not to wander into a bad section of town, or you will get owned by bloods and crips with guns.

Plus, in SF they have smoke shops! Just go to Haight-Ashburry!
The steep streets will give you lots of excercise, as well.

is that new.. the smoke shops??? I wasn't aware of them when I was up there.. are they the medical marijuana places.. or smoke shops like up in Vancouver & Amsterdam?

They've had smoke shops since, like, the sixties during Summer of Love, I think...
Anyway, they have about 6 or 7 smoke shops in Haight-Ashburry, selling papers, blunt wraps, hookahs, bongs, pipes, matches, lighters, bubblers, weed shirts, and weed toys. (I got a potleaf bendy there)

Yeah, so just get a map, go to the district that says Haight-Asburry, walk around, and you'll see the headshops scattered around.

Being that you're from Santa Cruz, I need some advice. I was accepted to UC Santa Cruz, and I'm definitely thinking about going there. Anything to say?

Santa Cruz is a great city, the weed is amazing there. The school's a great university, and an excellent location if you're into going to the beach and stuff....i'd definitely recommend it. i'm sure you'd get along fine there weiisky
