| Here's the symptoms listed on WebMD. A lot of the symptoms seem too general, most people could say they have one or more of those qualities if they thought long enough about it. Fortunately it doesn't sound like anything too terrible. It sucks, but at least it's not cancer or AIDS, right? You're still unique Mishiro, maybe this could even be part of what makes you so special.

| I've known quite a few kids who exhibited classic signs of asperger's, also most of these people had other members of the family who also had the same symptoms. |

| It looks like this thread's been revived once or twice already (yeah, sorry for bringing it back again...), but I'm curious if there are still people here dealing with AS. It's something I was diagnosed with a few years back, but it came at the tail end of a handful of other diagnoses so I never gave it much thought. Now things are falling into place in such a way that I'm giving it another look, and I'm especially curious about how weed interacts with the condition. When I smoke, I get to feeling like this distracted cloud of stuff buzzing around my brain settles into some kind of order, like maybe I'm taking everything in the way normal people are supposed to, but I'm a solitary stoner (a relatively recent one, too) so I don't know if I would come off that way to other people, or if that's just the typical stoner nirvana. I've heard of a legal, synthetic THC or THC-derived medication called Marinol, but I haven't heard much about how it affects AS, which I don't think is really what it's intended for to begin with. Anyway, it sounds like the OP has made his/her peace with AS—I actually feel pretty relieved the more I look into it—I guess now I'm kind of interested in BSing with people with experience of it, and maybe looking a little further into whether pot seems to provide Aspies with a little more relief than it does the average person, or if it's really just the same amount. Cheers, S^2 |

| My dad was a teacher of 4th grade for like 30 years and his last year he had a child in his classroom with asberger's. My mom owns her own business on educational consulting (teaches teachers how to teach special needs students) so she is an expert on the topic. I've learned a little bit from her...but not a lot. Basically the student in my dad's classroom behaved like he was autistic. He did what he wanted when he wanted and wouldn't let anyone tell him otherwise. He was very difficult to handle because he had a vicious temper and would snap at people for no apparent reason. He felt that the world belonged to him basically. He wore camoflague every day because he was obsessed with wars. But at the same time he was one of the brightest students in the classroom. He had a total understanding of math and science but lacked in reading. He was almost savant-like except to a lesser degree. I don't know much else but I know in educational facilities it is to be treated like autism...I guess. |

| My brother has it. He used to be considered ADD, but they reexamined him and said that ADD was too over-diagnosed and he actually had asperger's. My brother is a weird mix of a hippy and a punk rock kid, and smokes SO MUCH weed. He's like...a punk rock legend or something over here, and hangs out with punk rock crackheads and they smoke every day. I'm invited and join them from time to time. He gets kicked out the house a lot and gets arrested every 6 months. He is very idealistic and talks of starting revolutions and overthrowing the government... he can be hard to live with...

Sometimes I think we are trying to label people too much. Every little difference in personality is some sort of disorder. | |

| It's not really a symptom but being obsessive over things like that is one. I never really take any personality disorder seriously. I only take actual mental disorders seriously. |

| i too have wanted to start revolutions. and i do obsess over things. i think that's what makes add meds like adderall a bad thing for many misdiagnosed people who really have aspergers. it makes me obsess even more about trivial things and the last thing i want to do is homework or anything truly productive. as far as labeling people with disorders and such... i too don't like it and have tried my best to deny any such labels, but at some point you have to give in. if you don't agree, i understand. if i could function properly, i would feel the same way. but i don't, so i don't.

| This is a subject that needs more discussion, I too am Asperger and don't give a hoot about the label. I have however found that Cannabis has helped me deal with the common NT's who seem to think they rule the world. OK now that I have opened this topic up again please NOTE I am asperger and therefore I am and always will be black and white, I say what I think, I deal only in facts, and I take the literal interpretation of all things, so please do not expect me to read between the lines as there is nothing there for me. If you feel I am being rude, pushy, arrogant, or having a shot, most likely I am only giving an opinion not trying go offend, and you are the one taking the offense so therefore your issue not mine. Sorry if that seems to be a bit blunt, but I do find that unless I explain myself up front to NT's they quickly become offended. So anyway hi to all any input would be appreciated on this real health and legal topic. |
