It's true...most people that are AVID fishermen are either Libertarians or hardcore-rush limbaugh-listening conservatives. They belive the Federal Government has NO authority over what we put into our bodies...They won't object to "relaxing a bit" whille enjoying the breathtaking nature and being AWAY from the wives, offices, kids..ect, ect... The only fishermen you *might* have concern for are the religious zealot-types. Many of them fish because "Jesus ate fish, and the Jesus symbol IS a fish..." LOL, sorry if I offended anyone, I didn't mean any intentional harm. I prefer lake fishing in a small boat with an electric trolling motor. I can just get baked and sit in the middle of a lake for hours waiting for a fish to bite. And becasue i'm ripped as hell, a rainbow trout feels like a huge King salmon...I always feel kind of bad and usually let em' go if they aren't hooked to badly...I know a few "fish CPR tricks" to get them breathing and on their way again ![]() Pot + flyfishing for stealhead trout = pure bliss

| I'm up in Alaska too and I totally agree with you. Partying and fishing go hand in hand. |

| Somewhat off the subject, but I had a HUGE disappointment this morning. My wife and I got good and stoned, then went fishing. WE fished for awhile, catching a shad each, and my wife caught a nice white bass. I decided to toss a crankbait out a few times, and on my first cast, I hooked into something.....something BIG....Something MEAN!! I mean, the strike almost jolted the rod outta my hands, and whatever it was broke my line INSTANTLY after I set the hook. I saw the fish, but not well enough to determine what it was. The only thing I could think of that would attack a crankbait that explosively, in the waters we were fishing, was a BIG nothern pike. I've caught them up to 10 lbs before, no problem. Whatever this was was MUCH MUCH bigger than anything I've EVER caught before. I mean, 30 lb pike aren't unheard of in the Missouri River, and 20 lbs is somewhat common. It had to either be a northern or a muskie.....I don't know any other fsh that have that much power!!!

| While we're on the subject, what's the biggest fish everyone's ever caught ? When I was out deep sea fishing one time, we were catching a lot of Kingfish (or King Mackrel or whatever you want to call them) and I had caught the biggest one out of everyone on the charter boat (me, my dad, 2 uncles & an aunt) It was a good 3 1/2 foot long, and weighed around 40 -45 pounds I'd say. One of my uncles had to top me out though and caught a shark (don't remember what species) and it was just a tad bigger than my Kingfish. Other than that I've caught 2 catfish weighing 10 - 15 pounds.

you wanna talk about a white-knuckled, water frothing battle! the pool i hooked the fish in was littered with big tree branches, sharp rocks, and long grass everywhere (during high tide). i was using eight pound test main line and a 9'6", light action rod, more suitable for steelhead, big trout, and bass. people couldn't believe it was a coho purely because of the size! i got another one earlier that day that looked considerably smaller but weighed out to 14 pounds after being gutted, frozen, and having the head removed. i'd guess the smaller fish was still about 19 pounds ![]()

| I fish as much as possible, most people I run across in Mid missouri are already drunk by the time I start fishing so I just toke up. If they are not drinking I ask them if they smoke.....leave a long pause. Let them answer "smoke what" or "from a pipe?" and they are cool. Of they say "yeah go ahead or I dont smoke" I wont do it.BTW define "Catch" I snagged a 60 lb Spoonbill, not really a catch so much as a "grabbem im while he wasnt looking."
