Default Fisherman and friendly people

So me and my friend Savvas were looking for a place to smoke. The poll down the street opened for the summer, so we can't smoke there anymore. We decided to go to the dock. It's down this big hill and is very isolated. However, I didn't think that it would be chill because there are a few crabbers, fishermen, and people going by on boats.

When we got there, there was a fisherman. We didn't know what to do. The guy looked like he was in his mid 40s, seemed kind of conservative. I told Savvas that we should just ask him, it's not like he could do anything. So he said, as calmly as possible "Is it all right if we smoke a bowl here?" and the fisherman said "Go right ahead" although he did seem a little uncomfortable.

In the middle of our second bowl pack, the fisherman caught a fish and it was pretty cool.

I thought the story was really cool even though similar things happen to many of you.

I was wondering what kind of code words you guys use when asking people you don't know if they're cool with it. I just use "friendly people." If I'm in a smoking spot and some random older teen/adult happens to walk by, I always refer to us as "friendly people" and "are you a friendly person?" Even though it's not a registered code word or anything, most people can usually tell what I mean.

They might think you are asking them if they are gay

I usually just ask if they "smoke?". A few of the strangers I've come into contact with said something 420 when they were trying to figure out if I smoked or not.

And if he can bring himself to approve of what is happening, he becomes "groovy." After that, with much luck and perseverance, he can rise to the rank of "cool." i'm glad to hear you had a good encounter with a fellow fisherman! most of the people i've fished with, regardless of age or political beliefs, have either smoked pot or see nothing wrong with it (or that the drug war just costs way too much to justify "keeping people from smoking a plant", DIRECT QUOTE from an ex-navy guy, devout christian, and registered republican).

Just yesterday I was sitting along the bank of a creek smoking my dugout and fishing. Its really chill. I think MOST fishermen would be cool with you tokin, but not all.

Sounds like you had fun.

haha don't think he was fishing at all..

Fishing and smoking is one of the most relaxing things.. Most fishermen are laid back to begin with, so I haven't really found someone who would be against it.

My areas full of trout streams and lakes... I'm not into deep sea fishing but sitting on a boulder throwing my line into a stream and smoking a blunt is like a dream to me. Hell this whole fishing season I've just been catching and releasing because I lost all my fishing utilities. I just love to fish.

for how much i smoke, i still probably spend more money on fishing gear. i have a little 8 1/2 foot pontoon that i just bought and really want to toke in, but the lakes i've been fishing recently are pretty popular destinations. earlier this year i brought about an 1/8th with me while sight casting for trout in about 10 inches of water. when those fish are in shallow water like that, they just go apeshit when you hook them. it's definitely a good experience when you're high

my family rents out this chill lake house in maine every summer (we go with the family of the owners of the house, so its sorta like a home) and its right on the lake (lol duh) and they have a bunch of canoes so i just canoe out and smoke, its so chill to lie in the canoe with the water, some times i just tie it to the dock so i dont even have to worry about where im floating off too... i havent tried fishing on these trips but i'll try it this summer

sorry if this was off topic im really high

I think you'd be surprised at just how many people smoke pot or aren't against it. It just tends to be up-tight moralist, often religious people that are against it.
