that is pretty damn weird. how would 9 years even get the money to buy all of that weed, and if they stole it from their parents, why the hell would they buy weed with it? at 9 years old...

Here's a pretty good probability of how this went dowm:

The bags the kids had were little bags used to sell one joints worth of dope.

The bags are about an inch by an inch and a half. If you ever had braces, it's the same bags your rubber bands come in. The tops "zip-loc" shut.

They are usually referred to as "nickel bags" and you've probably come across them on the streets without realizing it.

You can hold about 5-7 in a closed fist (adult) or 3 or 4 in a child's hand.

The kids got the bags from a teen ager (anyone between 13-18) who was probably dealing on the street.

Question remains were the kids dealing to the kids at school (elementary in Florida is ages 5-12) or waiting to give the stuff to someone else to deal ("mules" is the slang for someone who carries rahter than deals). That's what the police and other authorities will be trying to find out over he next 2 weeks while the kids are kept out of school on suspension.

What no-one seems to have remarked on was: Would this happen if marijuana were legalized? The answer is "probably NOT". If marijuana were available through legal means, it wouldn't be necessary to use children as a means of distribution.

Children were often used as a means of distribution, as look-outs, and for other assistance, during the Alchohol Prohibition Era (the 18th Amendment to the Constitution). It appears they are again being pressed into service in the same ways during Marijuana Prohibition. And children were killed in the Al Capone, Mob influenced, Carribean Rum Running, Canadian Whiskey running, bootlegging days. Now they get killed in gang drug drive bys.

With the re-normalization and legalization of Alchohol with the repeal of the 18th Amendment, those children were no longer used...the killings ended... What do you think will happen if Marijuana were legalized, I assert, the same scenario.

The fact that people who want to keep marijuana illegal justify it by saying they're trying to "keep kids safe" really disturbs me. They don't get it, do they? Somebody has to get it though, because the country can't possibly be run by total morons....can it?

I can't imagine 9 year olds running around with bags of weed. When I was 9 I had no clue what marijuana even looked like, and only knew of it from DARE, which means in my mind it was just one of those horrible things you should never touch. Personally I don't think anyone under 15 should smoke...but that all depends on maturity, not age. It does look like kids are starting younger, although I doubt those kids had any plans of smoking it. Who knows?

2nd Hand Smoke

i met a 9 year old who smokes. he was a pretty cool kid, but odds are hes gonna be ****ed up eventually on other drugs. 9 is way to young to start smoking. i started smoking bud at 11. i would only smoke about 3 times a month top back then. im almost 18 now, i still havent done any other drugs except opium. and with that opium it was just 2 laced bowls, and the guy didnt tell me there was any opium in it until after i didnt really have any bad influences. i wanted to try weed so i got my older sister to get me a bag, and she had never smoked either. i tried it, it kicked ass, and im still fine, just a pothead.

hopefully the 9 year olds will wind up fine.

How come smoking at a young age is bad? In early times, an entire village inhaled trails of cannabis throughout the entire day. It's no different than giving a 9-year-old some Ritalin for his "ADHD." I'm sure Ritalin is a lot worse than marijuana is. If it is OK for you to do it at 11 or 13, then what's 2 less years? I'm sure if you let a child start smoking .5g a day that the child would be fine. You can't prove that it effects your brain's development, because if it doesn't effect it at 18 (I'm also sure an 18-year-old would be taking in more than .5g a day), then what's to say it does at 9?

Marijuana is still a drug, even if its harmless i dont really think children need it or should take it.

At an age of nine you should be playing with your frienfds in the forrest , and not taking drugs. I really dont see the point of children blazing.
No child wants to take drugs, they usually dont even know what drugs are. They dont have any interest in getting into an alter state of mind.

Marijuana would mess them up at that young age.

I can't believe the school called the police. Those third graders probably didn't even know it was illegal, or how to smoke it. The school should have just called their parents and taken teh weed away.
