You really didn't offend me, I'm just trying to explore your line of thinking here. You started out by claiming that vegetariansim is weird and unhealthy, and then you say that you've just been biased because of a bad experience with an annoying girl. I don't get it, that's all. Some girl acts like a prissy bitch and annoys you with her veggie ways, and suddenly not eating meat is unhealthy? Strange. ![]()

| Hey hey now, everyone, neither is "fucking weird." Human's are omnivores, we can eat either, both are normal. It's just the cycle of life. While I personally wouldn't BECOME a vegetarian, I have no ill will against them (unless they have ill will towards me for eating meat... THOSE bastards are just pretentious). I love meat, from myriad animals, too much. What's eggs benedict without the slice of ham? What's a BLT without the bacon? What's a barbecue without the ribs, brisket, and pulled pork? What, I ask you, is Thanksgiving without the Turkey (besides more historically accurate)? In my opinion, though, what people put in their bodies is their choice, not mine, and I have no right to say if they're right or wrong. Just like, I might add, it's nobody's business what herbs we may choose to smoke. What's eggs benedict without ham? A delicious poached egg on an english muffin in hollandaise sauce. What's a BLT without bacon? A salad in a bun, especially if you're like me and like cukes on your BLTs (they're so damn CRISPY!). What's a barbecue without the ribs, brisket, and pulled pork? Honestly, it's not a barbecue. Seriously. That's what it is. What's Thanksgiving without the turkey? Well, for one thing, more historically accurate; for another, some scrumptious stuffing, marvelous mashed potatoes, cool cranberry relish (actually, I hate cranberry relish, but this isn't all about me, now is it?)... I could go on. There're positives in EVERYTHING! EDIT- And of course there are substitutes for that protein. Besides soy, which is pretty high in protein, though I personally find it lacking any real flavor, there are nuts! And who doesn't love delicious cashews?

Also, in my experience, the people who become vegetarians because their friends do it or because they think it's cool aren't real vegetarians. They're the ones eating cookies and ice cream all day long because they've given up meat, when they should be munching on salads and drinking protein drinks. They usually don't last long. | |

| I'm not anywhere near a vegetarian, but I was introduced to soy ground beef replacement by one of my older friends, whose girlfriend converted him to the ways of the veggie. I have to say, it goes well with pretty much any recipe containing ground beef (Shepherd's pie, pasta sauce, etc) and it's quite tasty and very easy on the stomach. After eating ground beef, I find I have a heavy feeling in my stomach, but your body converts soy protein much more easily than it does beef, and it goes very nicely with a beer.

| I've known a few vegetarians and i think it's perfectly healthy, but like blondie said you have to eat right. You can't just eat celery and bread, you know what I mean? I've seen some people try to go vegetarian and by watching them eat, I realized that they were relying on "well if it's not meat then it's good for me" and that's completely wrong. Stuffing your face with rice crackers isn't going to give you the nutrients you need. It's all about carefully balancing your diet and listening to your body - the way it should be even if you eat meat. I've heard a LOT of bad things about soy, though. If I became a vegetarian, soy is the last thing I'd eat for my protein. same with "protein drinks" actually. I have a problem with that kind of food... nothing good ever came from fake shit in your diet like thatto each her own, tho -one final edit- there's a book that i'm reading right now called "In Defence of Food" and it's a super good book. Basically it outlines why so much of the stuff in super-markets nowadays isn't food, and the book attacks the whole "reductionist nutrition" line of thinking that spawns health products (like protein powders). the author makes some pretty simple dietary suggestions without getting into specifics 1) Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. (the tag-line of the book) 2) Don't eat any food that makes health claims 3) Don't eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn't recognize 4) Don't eat anything with high fructose corn syrup in it. back on topic, has anybody ever tried putting brie cheese on a burger?? It's freaking delicious!

| I would never consider any type of restaraunt to have a real burger. I know there are alot of places with incredibly good ones but the only ones I find true satisfaction in are those homemade slabs of goodness. For every holiday in which we have a BBQ (July 4, Memorial Day, etc) my aunt whips up some ridiculous burgers with her very on hands and incorporates her own exotic spices. Now, that is what I call a real burger. |
