I hope that Deeter's eye is OK and you feel better too.

I hope you and Deeter feel better soon. I am taking my dog (Zena) to the vet this morning for an allergy shot. She looks like a spotted leopard with all the spots of missing hair from her scratching. We tried the baths in special shampoo twice a week and it's not doing a damn thing for her. So off we go again to the vet to see what they can do.

Vicki, take care of yourself and I look forward to the new pics.

Actually the Dr. said that she has a staff/yeast infection. I have to give her three different meds (one of them twice a day). So, she gets a slice of cheese twice a day and she is going to love that. I buy cheese just for them as I am not a big cheese eater. But anyway, I also have to bathe her 3x's a week in a medicated shamoo. I am so glad that this is not something that she will have to go to the Dr. every month for a shot for the rest of her life. She will be okay. The Dr. said she should be fine in about 3 weeks. Her follow up is in 2 weeks. I'm not that computer savy to know how to post her picture or I would.

I hope all goes well with your kitties.

Two of her legs are badly injured, most probably broken. She has an open wound on the back injured leg, but not the front injured leg. She wont walk on either one. She also has a big knot on the back injured leg, possibly an abcess, not sure. I cleaned the wound with Betadine solution, and applied Neosporin.

I was able to get her to eat quite a bit of soft food, and she drank a lot of water, both off my fingers. I tried stimulating her to potty 3 times, but she didn't do anything. I am sure that is because she is severely dehydrated.

I have her in a kitty carrier, and I'm going to feed her every 2 hours, and also treat the wounds. I put in a call to a woman I know that runs a rescue organization, but she hasn't called me back yet.

She is about 5 weeks old, judging by her size, and teeth. Very young, and she is very weak. I am prepared to pawn some of my own jewelry to get the money to help her, but I don't think I can come up with enough money. I know it will take hundreds of dollars to help her, and I don't think I can get that much money. When the Vet see's her, I know she will recommend euthanasia. Unless the woman from the rescue organization can help her, the kittens future is not good. I have been crying for a while because I know how bad she is, and I want to help her so much.

I am going to get pictures of her in a little while. This day sucks.

I used to be a Vet Tech as well. She is past using KMR (Kitten Milk Replacement) formula now. She is about 11 weeks now (give or take a week). She was on Science Diet liver and chicken canned food, but we switched her to Purina One Healthy Kitten Formula dry food this weekend.

I've raised plenty of kittens, including feral kittens. This is the first one that was so badly injured. She is doing much better now, though. She was at the Vet Friday afternoon. She has Conjunctivitis as I suspected. The Vet gave us a tube of Terramycin eye ointment, and we are treating both eyes twice daily. We started her first dose Friday night, and her eyes already look clear, but we will continue the treatments for 10 days. She is also kept away from our other cats since Conjunctivitis is contagious to other cats.

Conjunctivitis - Animal Eye Care

She needs her vaccinations, but we are just strapped. Friday's visit cost almost $60.00, plus I have been very sick, and my own medical bills have been a lot. We plan to get her vaccinations as soon as we get back on our feet.

I don't have new pictures yet. When I'm not doing what I absolutely have to do, I'm usually resting in bed, or the couch. I feel better, not as badly as I did, but still don't feel good.

amazing story, Vicki. I wish more people were as compassionate about animals as you are. The little one has grown nicely since the original pictures you posted. Great work, keep it up -- I love seeing stories like these!

Oh Vicki she look sooooo good! Her fur looks absolutely soft as can be and she looks pretty happy herself. You have done an abosolutely wonderful job

Sorry you are still sick but at least your feeling a little better.

I realized some irony the other day, the title of the thread doesn't fit anymore. It should be "Rescued a kitten one morning, now it's looking pretty good....or I don't feel so goood...." oh hell I don't know.
You've done a good job lady!

I thought the same thing a while back. Would love to have it just say "Rescued a Kitten," but oh well.
