Default Rescued a Kitten

My husband went out to mow this morning, and discovered a kitten under my car. He came and got me and I brought her inside. I knew she was badly injured before I picked her up. She hissed at me once, but hasn't since then.

Two of her legs are badly injured, most probably broken. She has an open wound on the back injured leg, but not the front injured leg. She wont walk on either one. She also has a big knot on the back injured leg, possibly an abcess, not sure. I cleaned the wound with Betadine solution, and applied Neosporin.

I was able to get her to eat quite a bit of soft food, and she drank a lot of water, both off my fingers. I tried stimulating her to potty 3 times, but she didn't do anything. I am sure that is because she is severely dehydrated.

I have her in a kitty carrier, and I'm going to feed her every 2 hours, and also treat the wounds. I put in a call to a woman I know that runs a rescue organization, but she hasn't called me back yet.

She is about 5 weeks old, judging by her size, and teeth. Very young, and she is very weak. I am prepared to pawn some of my own jewelry to get the money to help her, but I don't think I can come up with enough money. I know it will take hundreds of dollars to help her, and I don't think I can get that much money. When the Vet see's her, I know she will recommend euthanasia. Unless the woman from the rescue organization can help her, the kittens future is not good. I have been crying for a while because I know how bad she is, and I want to help her so much.

I am going to get pictures of her in a little while. This day sucks.

That really sticks girl I'm sorry to hear it. I can sympathize with the tears too. Maybe there will be something they can to to help her. My cat's stuff cost hundreds of buck too but they gave me a payment plan hallejuh! It's not over til it's over. We'll just think good thoughts until someone tells us different. Good luck to ya!

Ooh. That wound dosn't look good. I bet it was much worse. I'd take her to the vet ASAP. My cat got run over by a car and one of it's back legs had the skin basically rip of and just hang so the cat's mucles and bone were exposed, pretty gruesome and obviously we had to put it down. That cat looks young enough that if you g et it taken care of it might make a recovery.

Anyways, I'll send good vibes to ya as I am acat man over a dog man 100%. Good luck and keep up the good work!

I agree, if you can, get her to the vet. I am glad you are the one that found her, if anyone can take care of her, I know you can.

My Jinxsie got hit by a car a couple of weeks ago, but we didn't find him until three days later. We had to put him down.

Good luck, and I too will send good vibes your way!

She's been to the Vet, and is doing ok.

I'm exhausted. Having a new baby in the house, plus being injured, she requires [b]constant[b] attention. Feedings every 1 1/2-2 hours now. I wont be changing her bandage for a few more days.

She is very strong, and strong willed. I was at the Veterinarian all morning yesterday. She had x-rays, her wounds cleaned, and they gave her a dose of Revolution for Cats to kill the fleas and ear mites, plus heartworm and lots of other worms she may not have had. We started her on Clavamox liquid yesterday too. She only weighs one pound, so she only gets 0.2cc twice daily. She has a respiratory infection, but I know that will get better after being on the antibiotic for a few days.

Amputation of two legs was discussed, but we hope we can save her back leg (the broken leg with the wound). It's in a pink bandage/splint now. It's almost bigger than she is. She isn't using her front left paw either, but it's not broken. It has nerve damage. That paw may need amputated.

She is a sweet little baby. We know this will be a long road to recovery, months, then longer for rehab possibly.

Before euthenasia you could look at ampuation, I know it doesn't sound good, but with a wheel-chair like thing, my neighbors cat lived a fine life.

We may have no choice but to amputate, but euthanasia is no longer an option. I couldn't do it yesterday, and I wont do it in the future. Unless there were an extremely good reason. Even then, I'd weigh all available options.

Dang, it's leg looked so bad! Poor lil thing

I'm glad she found someone who would take care of her and nurse her back to health. Hopefully no amputations will be neccessary
