| who here is a student? what do you study? do you love the student environment? I'm a university student entering my second year of a Bachelor of Arts program with no major. I thought I wanted to do sciences but I guess I lost focus on them or decided that I would rather do arts, even though my grades were just fine. I'll probably do an english major, and then see where I go from there. I've been told that I would make a great lawyer but I don't see myself doing that exactly, even though I am fascinated by law and love to argue. School was the best thing that could happen to me - two years ago I was living with my parents, smoking a lot of pot at my crap job, and learning nothing new. I think that learning is crucial for personal health. And let's not forget the great community environment on campus, eh? so tell me about your student lives!

| Well, technically right now I'm a college dropout. I have to take a semester of because I can't afford it at just this second. However, that was because of poor planning on the part of my parents without giving me enough time to do stuff on my own. So I'll be going back in the spring. Luckily for me, I'll be a second semester sophomore creditwise, which puts me from a semester behind my high school friends and a semester ahead of most my college friends to a year behind my high school friends and in step with my college friends (I took a year off between high school and college, and had a semester of credit from my APs). I WAS a philosophy major before the semester off. I'm thinking of switching to journalism when I go back. The number of jobs that are philosophy centric that I would want to do kept shrinking last year, and I figure I can always study philosophy independently as a hobby for my own edification anyway.

| I am in my first year of college, I'm going for a performance degree in percussion (4 year bachelors). Almost all of my homework is practicing techniques, styles and reading. The coolest class I have is contemporary literature. All the first year students have it. Basically the faculty performs 2 tunes of a style in music. The next class period all the drummers get together and discuss our parts in the songs. Then the students practice and perform the songs, we get a different group every time. Very cool experience. Everyone is super cool there too, open to almost anything and don't judge your playing. All my classes (expect contemp. lit.) are around 7-10 people.

| I'm in my first year of college. However, i spent a lot of time at the college in my senior year of high school, so I already have around 24 credits. I don't have too much longer to get my associates. If I had to pick a major right now, I think it would be political science. It's crazy because it's my favorite subject, but I don't want to go near politics when I grow up!

| I'm in my fourth year of college. But, I'm going to have another year of undergrad after this because I decided (a little late) that I wanted to do a double major, rather than just getting a major and a minor. So there it is. I'm majoring it political science and philosophy. Political science because it's interesting and because it goes pretty well with the pre-law track. Philosophy because it's really, really interesting and because I figured that studying philosophers' arguments and their methods of convincing people would be a good foundation for becoming a very convincing attorney. After year five, I'm going to law school, where I'll study to become a kickass attorney and then spend my life litigating cases in court. Exciting. Really, really exciting. (That's not sarcasm, either.) I most look forward to arguing in court, I really hope it's as awesome as I think it will be. There's nothing I love more than a good debate.I'm 92% sure I want to be a criminal defense attorney, but I think I might go into Constitutional law as well. We'll see. Most importantly, I don't want to be one of those attorneys who barely gets to spend time arguing in court. (A lot of criminal cases these days are settled before they ever reach the court room with plea agreements, hence the slight hesitation. But, as I said, we'll see.)

| Well im in my 3rd year of university studies. Im a Computer Information Systems major, its kind of a mix between a business and a computer science degree. its cool cause there are more jobs in the job market with this major rather than computer science. It sucks i have to take all the business classes tho... i hate accounting and statistics... but economics was actually pretty cool. i dont know if i'd want to get any deeper into it though cause i am not good at and dont like math. but over all i love being a college student, im in my first year living off campus, living in a 4 bedroom 4 bathroom apartment with some friends and its pretty sweet. the only thing that sucks about living off-campus is not having that ... on-campus feeling (know what i mean?) but its awesome living by myself and being able to smoke whenever i want. I use it as sort of an incentive to get my work done. what i'll do is i'll pack a bowl or sumthin and then sit it off to the side while i work. It actually makes me work faster because i am a really... really bad procrastinator. also im taking a philosophy class this semester mainly as an elective type class but i actually really enjoy it. The way the class is structured, its basically like a big discussion in class... its not mindless note taking, its actually talking and coming to conclusions by ourselves and i love that aspect of it. also... lol 100th post

| Full time student, this is my 2nd year @ UAS. I'm pretty scholarly so I am the youngest kid in most of my classes. Still pretty much undecided on a solid degree program, but I am fine with just continuing my education for eternity. Our school offers a fantastic marine biology program which I am seriously thinking about, I mean I plan on living on the fucking ocean in Alaska for the rest of my life- what better place to be a marine biologist? Go school!
