I go to a private highschool and in the student handbook it saids if drug use is suspected you are required for an oral screening. Now I smoke only one weekends (Fridays and Saturdays) so this doesn't bother me,but some Freshmen say they do hair tests and shit. I never heard this from anyone at school and I have no idea they came up with it, all I know is about the oral screening and I'm fine with that, I think you shouldn't be stupid enough to smoke during or before school, but could they do a hair test without having it in there policy? I obv woudln't have smoked if I knew about the hair test then and it would be bullshti if it was a secret.

Yes, a private school can do just about anything. Be safe and smart, dont carry anything at school and keep your grades up. As long as you obey the rules and are a good student you should be fine.

As for hair testing, unless the school is very prestigious I doubt they would do it. I mean its always a possibility, but thats a lot of work to go through just to PROVE someone is smoking marijuana, when most likely they already have enough evidence to kick you out of their establishment.

Well its simple, just dont look like someone that smokes weed, and dont talk about it in school, or to kids outside of school that would snitch on you (my guess is its a religion based private school and there are plenty of kids that would snitch so just be careful) and never bring it to school and you should be fine.

Very true, i missed the part where he said freshman. The hair test part most likely isnt true. but if they suspect you on a monday and give you an oral test then, the smoking from saturday night can cause a positive result.

If your school really wanted to, they most likely could hair test you, but if it doesnt say so in the handbook they most likey wont unless the know for certian that you use and pass a oral test.

I don't really know, but from an assuming standpoint - why would they give you a hair test anyway? Wouldn't a urine analysis not only be cheaper, faster, but just as reliable, and arguably easier to conduct?

I'd say the hair test is more reliable because there is a longer window of time they can screw you with. Idk if reliable is the word but I'd prefer the hair test if I was the school.

That being said, I doubt they would administer the hair test if it says in their policy that they use a urine test.

You pretty much don't have rights if you're under 18 at school, I might be wrong about this but I think they're more or less your legal guardians for the 6 hours you're at school.
