i'm 16 and i've been caught smoking over the summer and my parents haven't trusted me much sense then. so the other night my mom was looking through my wallet to see if i spent any of my money, which imo is total bullshit. I had 90$ before the weekend,which she knew about, and i spent 20 bucks on a bag and about another 10 on food and stuff. so i have 30 bucks missing and when my mom asked me what happened to all my money, i had no excuses b/c they knew i was at my friends house fri. and sat. night. So they told me they are going to drug test me. I know this may be disgusting, but i had a friend of mine( doesn't smoke) piss in a bottle for me, which is hidden in my bathroom. Today i was thinking about the situation and I basically had my mind made up that i was going to confess and just say i still smoke. I should also mention that my dad smokes weed also( mom doesn't know about that). i figured I'd talk to them and tell them that i don't think smoking is that big of a problem and it would be very unrealistic to tell me to never have a beer or smoke for the rest of my high school career. Well i get home from school today and my dad tells me that if i get caught this time, im not getting a license until im 21. I was also supposed to get his trailblazer when i get my license in a few months , which would be awesome. but he told me i can say goodbye to the trailblazer if i fail this test. So now im thinking.. well i could use my friends piss, lie to my parents to pass this thing( which i would kind of feel bad about) or i could use my piss, fail it , and not be able to drive in high school. yea... im pretty sure im going to use my friends piss. i have good grades, never get into any trouble and am decent at sports. i think rather then threatening me with all this bullshit and telling me to never smoke again, they should focus on teaching me how to respect alcohol and marijuana and that it should only be used in moderation. sorry for the rant, but do you guys think i should lie and pass the drug test or just confess and take the consequences. thanks for reading

Your best bet is to confess, and be very honest. An honest dialouge is what has been lacking in this netire situation.

Don't worry about your dad. He seems like someone who would also say that is daughter won't date until she is 40.

My best friend got tested by his parents, and using someones elses clean piss will work. If you do get tested hopefuly your parents wont watch you. If the piss sits for more than 3 days it starts to smell really bad just a heads up.
Telling the truth is obviously the best way to go, but it can fuck you over. Just think you take it and pass, some trust will be given back to you.

I would tell them the truth. You generally can't go wrong with honesty, and I bet if you are honest with them they will see the value in that and cut you some slack.
Using your friend's piss is another option.. but if they don't find out that you smoke now, they might just find out down the road and be more upset.

I'd say tell your parents.. honesty is the best policy afterall

Normally honesty is the best policy but...telling the truth is the same as admiting you were caught so would your dad still enforce the punishment? If you think so then I would definetely go try the clean urine since you don't have much to lose. Hopefully he would respect the fact that you were taking responsibility for your actions but I know some parents who would still punish their kids just the same.

One thing tho since you mentioned your dad smokes: Don't even think about trying to use that against them as an excuse as to why you should be able to smoke. Just don't.

Honesty Honesty Honesty, the last thing you want to do is have all trust of your parents completely lost. Trust is ridiculously hard to gain back. I would tell them the truth, talk to them about how you feel and how they feel. Don't get angry!! Being 16 is rough in terms of parent relationships, just do what you can.

i understand honesty would be the morally correct thing to do in my situation, but as it is i have money anymore because they took it all and i would really like to have my license in high school. My mom is completely against marijuana and drinking( shes only been drunk literally once before and it was in college, never even touched MJ). i know lying is the wrong thing to do, but if i fail this drug test my parents will have even less trust in me because i was supposed to stop already. I could actually picture my parents not letting me get a care in fear that i will drive around under the influence( which i wouldn't do bet w/e). Whatever money i have they will most likely keep from me and i will have to ask for i and give them a legit reason for why i need it( this has been the way it is ever sense the last time i got caught, up until 2 weeks ago). Also they could start to test me every two weeks or so, which they have talked about, to make sure im not smoking. The thing is i want my license and a car, i want to be able to carry around money in my pocket, i want to be able to go out with my friends and have fun, and i never ever want to stop smoking. i just don't see what being honest in this situation is going to get me.

I think that it's all a matter of perception. Getting caught and admitting to something are different acts. Admitting to somehting is self-initiated and shows a great deal of maturity.
Getting caught, however, is more bad luck, poor planning or sheer stupidity.

Oooooooh... I wouldn't. If that falls apart or you have problems, it's going to be awkward, for one.
Your dad is going to come down harder for the attempt at a cover up....
I wouldn't recommend this route, really. Too much risk for too little reward, IMHO.

alright so i have decided what i'm going to do. i just talked to my mom and if i fail this, its a done deal i don't get a license until im 21 and i am certain she will keep her word on that. so im going to pass the test using my friends piss but after i'd like to talk to them and try to prove to them that marijuana is not as bad for your health as many people think it is. So in the mean time is there any good, legit articles you guys know of that prove marijuana myths incorrect?? and by the way thank you for all your advice and opinions. it is much appreciated

You're not hurting anybody by smoking, whereas they may think they're helping you, but it's really just bullshit, and you know it.

The obvious solution is to lie. I'd much rather be driving around then having to wait until I'm 21 for some bullshit reason.
